Alternative Energy Types – How They Are Utilized Today

We are running out of natural resources which need to be preserved, so alternative energy sources are necessary to deal with this crisis. More development and research is needed in this area so that we can go ahead to look for replacements for the near future. Currently we are dependent on foreign countries for their export of oil for our use, and we still rely on the ancient use of fossil fuels. We need to look beyond this and start to use available alternative energy sources, of which there are many. The sooner we start the better so we can avoid the worsening situation which experts believe is looming over us. Once alternatives have been sourced, we need to explore how best to use them so that systems can be place in place at the earliest convenience.
wind power is very much a possible alternative as many wind turbines are now in use. It is less expensive to set up and we take up again to develop them steadily for use as well-organized energy. There are many wind farms which have been urban worldwide and strategically placed to avoid any hurt to the environment and also birds.
Most of us have heard of solar energy which is a further energy source which is a excellent workable alternative. We have all seen solar panels which are manufactured with many solar cells that harness the sun’s energy so that it can be converted into electricity for many uses like heating water. This resource is very environmentally friendly as it does not pollute the air.
One energy that most of us have not heard of is ocean energy. This is renewable energy from the sea which experts believe to have huge benefits as a power source for the future. There is the potential to generate an enormous amount of energy and for years countries like France, Ireland and Scotland have by now used generators to successfully use this source for power.
Hydroelectric power is one of the oldest alternative energy sources. Powerful generators uses water and converts it into electricity. It is limited in that you can’t build large dams somewhere, which were largely used to control floods and for irrigation. They also affect natural habitat even if they are clean running and excellent for the environment. There are now smaller electric generators now being set up to so they can be more localised.
Geothermal energy is a natural resource of which there is an abundance, and is found just not more than the earth’s surface. We produce this type of energy by using the earth’s molten core to heat up water. The steam that is produced from the heated water is then used for running turbine engines so that it is converted to electricity. Experts say that more extensive research should be done in this area to that we can learn how to tap into this geothermal energy.
Instead of using gas to run our cars and engines we can use Ethanol. It is derived of strawberries, sugar cane, wheat, wood and wood cellulose. This type of fuel source may not be as economically feasible according to experts, so it may not be viable as an energy source.
Biodiesel energy could potentially be a further excellent energy source. It is made of plant oils. Seeds, soybeans and other oils could potentially be used to make up biodiesel, even if the progress on this is slow to develop as an energy resource. If we to use this on a large scale it would not be feasible economically, even if it is much more clean running than diesel as it is oil based. It is also clean and environmentally friendly.
