From 1966 to 1989 The South African Defense Force (SADF) fought a war on the border between Angola and South West Africa (today known as Namibia). This 23 year conflict is today referred to as the Forgotten War. The ‘Kaplyn’ (cutline) was a thin strip of land cleared of any growth. This was the border. During this period every single white South African son was forced, through the Conscript System, to serve at first, one, then later two years as soon as they left school. A total of 715 South African Soldiers gave their lives to protect their country.

I ve been to SA two years ago..what a gorgeous country. Unfortunately it is missmanaged.
If you were not there you have not right to terrible mouth any of it. It was duty, and we did it with pride.I miss my buddies and will miss them for as long as I live. Die SAW was die beste en en wens ek kon nou nog dieselfde se, maar onderd die houtkoppe se ” rule” twyfel ek. As boeremag my nou nodig het, is ek op die volgende vliegtuig terug SA toe. Groete aan my mede soldate vanuit NZ. Staan trots.
Thank you for the video. Very excellent memories. I just cannot believe that there are people out there insulting each other over a touch that had such a fantastic impression on my life. Please get your facts right concerning SF and the Angola/Swa/SA conflict.
To those of you who fought with me I can only say thank you and I miss those days. To Vossie and the others that did not come back, thank you, we miss you.
Groot nasie en groot Afrikaanse lied as Afrikanerhart! Groets uit Bulgarye, Europa! Die Boere nasie sal altyd wees!
@rednod1 dread of being targeted by the new SA… so depressing to contemplate.. I imagine that you hit that right on the head. And so new SA refuses to tap into the talents and abilities of an entire class (tribe) of peoples whos very skills and acumen have really built and run a country successfully. White SA bring discipline and political sophistication and have proven by their events over the last 15 years that they are not a racial threat to the current regime.
@rednod1 No my friend , At out age we have the wisdom to see the dismanting of a fantastic country by african killers and rapists. It is called African culture by black criminals running a country so rich in beauty and being burned to a desert to feed bone idle useless breinwashed idiots. it will come back at them and then they will be less and us strong. Afrikaners can not be dismissed. We are the best.
At the age of 52 there are few that worry about the net as a source of information but so much dies when there are no discussions and I have so much to share but dread get targeted by the new SA .
I’m not a border war veteran but have been a soldier and I’d say that they were probably fighting for the guy on each side of them rather than for any ideological or inhabitant produce.
seven si in palaborwa wasn’t ‘british immigrants’ in 87/88 but yes, there were a lot of engelse there. perhaps it was a language thing even if ‘troep, gaan daaie fokken blare vang” was still said in afrikaans!
hahaha
Ek is ver verby my universiteit van buitelandse sake projekte.
no names ! Copy ? you should know if you were there. free range chickens – hahaha. excellent ones! kuns been? groen volla? rooi baard? onderwyser? night operations? just a few.
just a date thats all. talking about shooting mouths of without knowing, what you been up to lately, runner?
Who pissed you off buddy? Did I miss a touch? haha
I am Sorry to learn of the loss of your acquaintances. I imitate on the possible fates of my childhood SA acquaintances I wonder if they made it through. I have not felt the blood of a friend in my face but that is not admission price to participate on this site. Surely part of why you and your comrades fought was to keep kids like me and my acquaintances safe in N SWA or Northern Rhodesia or did I miss a touch about why your sacrifices were made? Thoughts of those who kept us safe are in my mind
pretending to 36 wonder what benefits that brings you?
I live in America (as do many ex SA). British by birth and grew up in several African countries, including Northern Rhodesia, Kenya and South West Africa (you may be familiar with SWA) and had many SA acquaintances who would have been involved in this war as a reread back of my posts will inform you. The SAs I knew and grew up were not like you at all even if I did meet few like you in the school yard. You shoot mouths off without knowing
@mvrlee
That’s appealing. Was that when Staff Oosthuizen was the Coy Sgt. Major of B- Company?
Typical huge mouth yank. Do you really reckon that most people on the tube would place down their right credentials? OMG you must be stupid to reckon that. I leave you with this, Pomfret – 1986-1987- 32Btn – the Buffalo, NO media, NO POW’s………….. SADF men carry the pain up to now. Most still aggressive with poor or no family-type lives, because of what they have become. I bet you don’t know what your best buddy’s warm blood feels like in your face………….STFU
we don’t need to talk about it, all of us know. most is still burning inside.
You write but delete. we never captured. seek and ruin was last words from command. go go go………….. penning these words ti imply you had really heard them as coming from the mouth of a SADF officer. Given you age 36 you would have been under 16 at the end of this conflict you could never have been involved assuming they were ever expressed You are sounding like one on Mugabes seriously young war vets. If you are going to fabricate do a small research to make it plausible
What an unpleasant, aggressive, ignorant small turd you are. SA boys I knew where nothing like you. They had class, charm and panache combined with a toughness and courage qualities you evidently lack. As I look at you profile at 36 you would be 16 in 1990 and so could have not have been involved in this war. And yet you choose to pen an aggressive rant instead of taking the opportunity to comment on the bravery and experiences of the men who did really fight this war. start taking pills
Safe the video/song for what it was meant for. its to remember the DAYS and the BROTHERS. Take your discussion about who was there and who wasn’t and that type of shit, and make your own video and take up again your shit there.
we never captured. seek and ruin was last words from command. go go go…………..
Spoton.. late 70’s there were a number of threats and insurgent spies within the contracted workforce who were detected and picked up….and every now and again the ‘defcon’ rating would fluctuate depending on what was on further north. Staff then carried basic R1/FN (& 40 rds) SLR or 9mmP within base/town confines and heavier platoon kit when outbound convoying further afield..anyone trying to kick off a touch would quickly reach the close they’d made a huge mistake…..if they survived !
