The Apple’s A4 SOC has a ‘better’ architecture base than the Qualcomm Snapdragon. Better meaning that it has more cores. I’d really have to see some studies on the apple A4 SOC Arm’s built in features to make a in depth choice. But the Qualcomm Snapdragon IS last generation Arm.
But the Nvidia Tegra is likely far better than the apple A4 SOC. Better depends on what you reckon is better feature wise. They both speak the same language in the end.
So is the one in the iPad better or worse? I can’t reasonably follow. A4 and A8 don’t permanently mean the 8 is better than the 4, etc.

Bit of terrible fact checking on this show. The A4 SOC includes a ARM Cortex 9A, which is a multi-core/multi-gpu risc processor. The Snapdragon is a Arm Cortex 8A. It is not in the same league. The Intel Atom processor is weaker than the Arm Cortex 9A. Nvidia’s Tegra has built in 10.1 Flash acceleration in it’s chip as well.

Ok. I sell my N900. Buy an HTC HD2 or Nexus One, Lenovo dosage and a verizon mifi device, connect all to it for 60 bucks a month. By now have an ipod touch. There. You guys have solved my life. I have media, I can read books, I can play videos at different sizes, I can conenct to my home computer in the least, I can make a phone call and do other things at the same time, I can support my work computers. And I don’t have to try to do this all on the same screen. THanks Brian for pointing that out.
I kind of get why apple does what they do. no multitasking, no widgets saves batt life. No flash and force the eventual use of html5. Less security issues. Less device errors. Disappoint us techies, but keep the general small market share pleased and less complaints. But I agree. Disappointing! They should have a techie option. Give me multitasking and flash and I relinquish any warranty or support!
I thought my n900 was cool for 2 weeks, then I got sick of it. When I first got it, I had no thought how to place a call. There are hockie things like no ability to dial * symbol. It is slow as hell and any cool thing it does kills the battery. After the honeymoon of tinkering is over, it is a fantastic youtube device and camera. That’s all.
ipad. I dunno. I reckon I would only use it’s non multitasking remote desktop app or citrix app to in the least connect via 3g to a further pc that does multitask.

The Ipad is not a computer substitute. It is essentially a giant Iphone or Itouch. With 3G it Can make calls but is not a phone.
