The FBI on one of their many websites has come out with a list of what they feel is the three most significant internet dangers for your kids to avoid. In this article I wanted to discuss these dangers and what you can do to help educate your children about them.
Since so many children are becoming victims to various dangers on the internet the FBI released some statistics in order to make parents more aware of what is going on. These statistics were very alarming to me when I viewed them.
I raised 5 children as a single parent and they are all over the age of 30 so I am not concerned with the internet statistics in regards to them. I know they will be fine.
I do have 9 grandchildren and 2 fantastic grandchildren that I am concerned about when I look at the dangers they face on the internet.
Let’s take a look at some of the statistics the FBI released that are of a major concern to parents.
Pornography and Pornographic Related Websites
There is so much porn on the web it is hard to fathom. There are over 1,800,000,000 websites classified as pornographic in nature. Even sites that are paid adult sites have free preview sections with photos and or videos to watch. You children have free access to these. Is this the type of sex education you want your children to receive?
Pedophiles, Predators, and Perverts Galore!
I do not care if it is 5 in the morning or 5 in the twilight, if it is breakfast time, lunch time or time for dinner, there are 5,000,000 surfers on the internet 24/7 looking to victimize your child for their own deviant desires.
There is a 50/50 chance that if your child is talking to a weirder in a forum or internet messenger service designed for children that the person they are conversing with is not a child but an adult posing as a kid under a fake profile.
Cyber Bullying is On the Rise and is VERY Perilous
Cyber Bullying is the high tech version of our schoolyard bully made readily available to harass your child 24/7 over the internet. The harassment can become so acute that it can produce serious harm to your child causing extreme depression and lack of self esteem and has resulted in some cases suicide by the victims, also referred to as bullycide.
I have seen 2 reports, one estimating one third of our children having been victims of cyber bullying. The second estimates one half of our kids having been victims. Both studies agree that approximately half of our kids who are victims of cyber bullying will not tell their parents, acquaintances or teachers and will not seek help.

Monday, October 25th, 2010Learn Some Easy Tips to Avoid Google Click Fraud
Friday, January 22nd, 2010Many web site owners are getting their Google Adsense account terminated. I read on the forums nearly daily posts from people who are bemoaning the fact that Google has terminated their account when they feel they have done nothing incorrect to deserve the punishment. In nearly every case, click fraud is the reason for termination.Click fraud is the act of clicking on ads for the purpose of costing the advertiser cash. It is simply the same as paying out cash for fake leads. Many website owners are aware of this fraud, and share the same sentiment that this is the one huge problem that Adsense is facing. How do you prevent yourself from being involved in this fraud? The majority of web hosts place forward access logs. If you are told of click fraud and possible termination of your account by Google, it is necessary that you hand over these logs to them to clarify your situation. This allows them to look for any suspicious activity on your site. Problems like this are very serious and giving it to them is a show of excellent belief that you want to help Google in any way you can to attempt to solve the problem. It can also help if you have a click monitoring software. There are many excellent programs available, but it is vital that you get a program that has no limitations. there are free programs available, but I would suggest that you get a script from a certified expert in this field. I highly recommend using William Bontrager’s script, available at http://www.allhottips.com. Mr. Bontrager will install this script on one site for you after the buy of the software, and will show you how to add the script to other sites. Free scripts are also available on the Internet if you are limited in funds. Remember that you get what you pay for. As usual, all the information you will receive from your tracking software should be turned over to Google. This is showing Google that you too are fighting against click frauds and is in no way a part of it. Study your server logs and watch for any activity that seems suspicious. Report anything that you may find odd, may it huge or small thing. Look for large spikes in traffic, and suspicious activity in files and folders where people would not normally have access to. Remember, that when working on your site, that you will access these files and folders. It is suggested you footstep these by noting the time of activity. A small work on your part will save you a lot of grief in the long run.You may want to consider disabling ads for your own IP address and local geographic area. This will certainly prevent accidents and will not make Google mistake a further user as you. You can do through the htaccess file on your web site. the process is too detailed to go into further here, but if you do a search on the engines to learn ways to access and disable parts of this log, a lot of information is readily available. By doing this, and showing Google that you have done so, you protect yourself against any possible threat from Google.Keep your Adsense off on pop ups and pop unders. Your ads should not be showed on content sites that promote illegal activity or tampering of the legal rights of other people or business. Included in this are the content that is considered adult or gambling in nature, or promote firearms, tobacco, or drugs of any kind. If you reckon that you may be breaking this rule, immediately remove your content or Adsense from the web page.Be truthful and confess up to Google about times when you might have clicked on your own ads, whether accidentally or intentionally. Be trustworthy about anything that you may have done that is incorrect. Confessing is way better than Google learning about it ultimately. It would mean eventual termination and no getting back what you have worked so hard for. Do not tell your family or acquaintances about Adsense on your website. Chances are they may start clicking on them to help you make cash without you knowing it. They may be doing more harm to you than help by trying it in the first place. Most pay per click networks have different measures in hand to protect website owners against click frauds. Other search engines can footstep more than 50 data points, IP address, browser’s information, user’s session info and pattern recognition. They also have “systems” available that detects fraud, not to mention the specialized teams monitoring how things are going and helping advertisers stop click frauds. Utah Search Engine Optimization: Avoid the Internal Search Results Catastrophe
Wednesday, January 6th, 2010SearchEngineLand.com recently in print an article1 that offers excellent information for Utah search engine optimization professionals as well as other SEOs across the nation and beyond. The article discusses an SEO topic that isn’t commonly targeted as an area of SEO interest since it lies in the shadow of much-discussed issues that may include keyword research, Flash/optimization issues, optimized content, search engine site maps, etc.
But, the issue the article presents is a valuable one for Utah search engine optimization professionals and others.Utah Search Engine Optimization Professionals and the Desire for Google-Kosher ContentM
Early on, the searchengineland.com article quotes some of the Google guidelines for webmasters2:“Use robots.txt to prevent crawling of search results pages or other auto-generated pages that don’t add much value for users coming from search engines.”
This quote may galvanize a debate among Utah search engine optimization professionals among others. Why? Well, some online commerce professionals might claim that the Google “regulation” doesn’t make significance, at least not when extremely interpreted (i.e. getting rid of all the internal results). An Issue for Utah Search Engine Optimization Professionals
The issue or the debate over internal search results is moderation vs. an extreme contumacy against all internal “search results page or other auto-generated pages.” For Utah search engine optimization professionals with an online store and various lists of harvest generated via internal searches this issue might specifically be of interest. The Debate a Utah Search Engine Optimization Qualified Can Participate In
Both sides of the moderation vs. extremism debate support the thought that internally generated results shown by search engines are simply not as useful as product pages that provide more graphics and more information. After all, the search engines clearly want to provide value for their search engine users and it’s hard to provide value when an online searcher is typing the phrase buy bike in Utah and finds a list of internal results that may include results for bonus sporting equipment, results about recreation, results that include company information, etc. Perhaps the “bike website” also sells shape food and fishing licenses and those results would be presented as well. The process simply isn’t organized or dependable. But, But, should Google really penalize a website that has feature harvest but not enough cash to fund a massive product content campaign?A Vote for Moderation regarding Internal Results Listings
Some Utah search engine professionals might prefer a more moderated approach. For instance, what about categorized search results? Wouldn’t those present clear (at least honestly clear) options for an online visitor. Let’s say for instance that you typed in the phrase Groundhog’s Day Movie into the Google search box and found a categorized list of movies one of which would be Groudhog’s Day. Some Utah search engine professionals might be able to get away with these types of listings (consider Amazon’s internal product results listing for example) for a while but better content and an simpler streamlined process will inevitably win the Google game. After all, if you could choose between an attractive page devoted to Groundhog’s Day instead of a drab list of movie options, you’d probably be more likely to buy the movie and in addition you’d probably save time doing it as well. So, does that mean you should go all the way and start making more exciting product pages as quickly as possible?
The answer is that yes you probably should. What should a Utah search engine optimization qualified do?
Remember, your robots.txt file is not going to keep search engines away from your internal results pages. In fact, search engines can’t penetrate queries into your website’s search box but they can follow links, which means that only a lack of links to your website’s internal results pages will keep the search engines from indexing those ill favored pages. What should a Utah search engine optimization qualified do next?
The next step towards higher feature search results that Google does want to index, requires better content for (at the very least) your most standard and required after harvest. The product content should include photos (or graphics) and well written text that includes the product’s name and other key terms.
Just reckon better usability and you’ll start thinking like a Google-ite.

Nine Blogging Mistakes to Avoid
Saturday, December 26th, 2009A lot of people get down to try and “make cash from blogging” only to give it up down the line. I have listed a few of the “blogging mistakes” that they should avoid and try not falling into the trap Not Updating Your Blog You set up a blog and is all excited about it. For a few days, you get down to do a furry of posts and the excitement may proffer to even a few weeks. And then, kaput, it is all over. The numbers of posts reduce and gradually the blog is perfectly forgotten. PLEASE remember, don’t ever fall into this trap. You can even hire a person to write the blog posts for you. Just remember that nothing kills a blog quicker than the lack of updates. So, once again, I question for you to maintain a blog “posting frequency” and stick to it. You will thank me for it later. Try and maintain one post per day or try allocating half an hour for your blog per day. A blog that is not updated evenly is as excellent as a dead blog and do you want that to happen to you ? Blogging Only For Cash A lot of people have questioned me reasonably evenly whether they could “make cash from blogging”; and the answer to that question is YES !! But I have also told them that it is possible for anyone, to “make cash from blogs”. But the reality is that, most people who write blogs exclusively to make cash really DON’T make a lot of cash. Now why is that ?? Some of the many reasons for this is because blogging is an organized, disciplined and ongoing process and fresh content is permanently necessary and no sooner people forego this due to other commitments, they lose out. This is one of the reason why more that 80% if not 90% of the bloggers don’t “make cash from blogging”. Also don’t reckon when people tell you that blogging only for cash is terrible. It is just that you expect results too soon and you invariably cave in and forget about it. You do this daily bit and suddenly you will be shocked to receive this check and will be thinking whether this was due to your efforts. So, go ahead delight in it – reckon of it as a part time leisure activity. There is also no harm if you lose your spontaneity – just have a back-up blogger or writer ready to write those posts for you. Proofread, Proofread And Proofread Permanently proofread your post prior to posting it. What I mean to say, all of us make mistakes while typing. The proof of this is the number of mistakes that you tend to make while chatting with a friend (and you take it for granted your friend on the other side understands your mistakes). But in a blog post, you cannot overlook this mistake, you have to proofread it atleast twice, previous to posting it. If you write a touch at night, just save it and read it twice in the morning previous to posting. You will notice the difference. Ofcourse, recently, there have been a number of blogs that have wantonly come out with posts that contain mistakes – but they can meet the expense of to do so. This is because, this is their USP or unique selling proposition, as they are writing for their acquaintances. Their acquaintances tend to know their slangs and mistakes better than right perfect sentences. In other words, it is slang what sells. But this can be applied to only a small percentage of people (generally the younger generation). Besides, you also need to have a large reader base or friend base Be Personal This is a further vital aspect that you have got to remember. Writing for a blog and writing an article are two distinct styles. Blogging is more personal. It is as if you are having a conversation with a virtual partner and not providing advise to a class or lecturing a room of students on a topic. While your knowledge of the topic would be valued, you lose out on the personal side – so write for your readers But a further mistake, don’t get too personal – control your language, no f’s and sh*t and other lose slang – whatever said, people respect you more without it. This was a pointer; I expected a few months back from a client when I took on writing about a product that I knew reasonably well, but didn’t reasonably fathom my reader-base. Here goes…. 1) “You’ve got to stop writing like your teaching a class. Write as if you’re really talking to me. As if you’re talking to a name at a kitchen table. Relax and make it simple to know. If you’re writing for an Industry magazine, it’s perfect. You’re writing for a blog. It’s got to feel like a blog. People don’t’ write blogs with hours of research, they just sit down and write. So write with casual language. 2) Start using contractions. We tend to use lots of contractions. It is = it’s, I would = I’d, Should not = shouldn’t and I have= I’ve. This will make it sound more conversational. Again make it simple to read. 3) I can’t critique the structure, because you didn’t end the article at 400 words and place an ending to it. But as far as I can tell the keywords were placed very well. 4) Your missing the point of the reader. You wrote about huge companies using the product, but if you read the product description, our target market isn’t huge companies. It’s small small businesses, 1 person Realtors, 5 person accountants, and 10 person contractors. You tend to be dull when you talk about huge business, because the reader doesn’t care about huge business. But, you can use huge business as an example, but talk to the reader and tell them what’s in it for them. The small business guy, the entrepreneur, the start up business. Those people are the targets NOT huge businesses that you spar about. 5) Again your writing is really incredible, just needs to be tweaked a small. I reckon you get the point ! Respond To Comments It is very, very vital and I stress that again to respond to comments – This is what brings back readers to you. Successful bloggers permanently interact with their readers and they try and establish a link or a connection with their readers. Once you establish a connection with your readers, they will evenly drop by your blog to check what you have written recently. Very vital Be Original Again, if you find some appealing topic in some other source, say a blog or a website link – give them credit. It gives your blog a lit more value. You don’t need that small post to ruin your reputation. You may have not realized and could have got carried away by the source – but sometimes the feedbacks could be nasty. So try and be original I sometimes find it pun, when people say that blog posts have been copied – hey, these are two guys chatting on a topic and they would only be pleased to have their topic copied, if proper credit was given to them. Say, an bonus link. This reminds me of an anecdote… I recently took a subcontract of writing a blog-post and some articles from a guy based from who-knows-where (remember, there is no distance in the Internet). The understanding was that I give the entire rights to this bloke, which means it would be his name that would be credited under the post. I thought what the hell, it was a small job and besides I needed some work as well. Sometime later, I got to read this same post elsewhere, but it was perfectly a different person’s name that was credited with the article. I couldn’t help laughing, because here I am writing for some-one (who had been contracted by the main guy for a decent sum) and the same thing was subcontracted to me for in the end peanuts and I had to worry about plagiarism In other words, “to steal thoughts from one person is plagiarism but to steal from many is research” The tale goes on – but please try and be original. Don’t have to be one of the huge media shots – but write for your readers Writing For The Searching Engines Instead Of People People get carried away by KEI (keyword density index), key phrases, tags, keyword density, making sure that it is Google friendly and the rest of the jazz. But what they tend to forget is that it is people who would be reading their post and not search engines. Now I am not saying that you don’t have to be worried about SEO and keyword densities, but your first priority should permanently be your readers. When you proofread your post for the post for the second time, check for the keywords and their positioning and basic optimization, i.e., opening, end and the midpoint should be optimized well with the main keyword. That’s more than sufficient. Not Being Passionate About Your Topic Successful bloggers are permanently passionate about their topic and they also maintain a high blog posting frequency. Now if you have ten blogs and you say that you are passionate about all of them – how are you able to maintain your blog posting frequency ? Practically impossible ! So one or two blogs max with a decent degree of passion will get you more distance than 10 blogs with no passion or a zero posting frequency ! Try Giving Your Readers The RSS Facility Now, I am not certain that this would increase your reader-base, but do it – it has helped me. Generally, people in the same line prefer to interact with each other, share thoughts and help each other and the RSS facility is a huge help That’s about it – I believe I have covered most areas. So let’s get down and start to “make cash from blogging”.
Internet Forums – Six Ways To Avoid Disaster
Friday, December 18th, 2009Internet Forums are highly standard, they cater for all tastes and deal with every topic imaginable. People stay Internet forums for a variety of reasons, the most common being the search for information or entertainment. The Internet forum is a safe environment if you behave sensibly but you can find yourself in perilous territory if you ignore the following warnings.
Don’t Join Internet Forum Flame Wars
An Internet Forum flame war is to be avoided at all expenditure. The airing of differing points of view, debate and discussion are healthy things for an Internet forum: they keep it lively. An Internet forum flame war can make entertaining reading but don’t be tempted to join in or start one. If you make a habit of leaping into forum flame wars, you will buy a reputation as a distress-maker and you could find yourself barred from a forum because of your behaviour. A further excellent reason for avoiding forum flame wars is that you could find yourself caught in the crossfire. Previous to you know it, people will be firing at you from every management when all you intended to do was have a bit of fun.
Don’t Make Jokes On An Internet Forum
Well, you can if you really must, but remember that the Internet forum has the same drawback as email: the reader can’t see your expression or gestures. The smile, shrug or grimace which can lift your comment from serious to humorous will be missing and your message will be a touch which the reader has to interpret. If the reader gets it incorrect, you might very well find that you just started your very own Internet forum flame war reasonably unintentionally. You can safely tell a joke on a forum (provided that your joke’s content is appropriate) but sarcasm and irony are perilous and best avoided.
Don’t Be An Internet Forum Drama Queen
The Internet forum is not a suitable stage for you to perform your very own drama. If you flounce about making extravagant statements merely for effect, you will be the object of make fun of by other forum members even if nobody tells you so. If you are a member of a support forum for a particular programme, it is reasonably in order to post a message to the forum saying a touch along the lines of “I’ve started to feel unsure about [whatever], I don’t reckon it’s going to work out unless I make some changes. Can anyone suggest what I should try next?” Compare this to the next post in drama queen style: “I quit! This Sucks. I’ve done everything right so it must be this ****ing programme. You will never hear from me again!” Which forum member would you want to help? There will be kind people who feel the drama queen’s pain and place forward support and suggestions. When the drama queen makes a huge re-entrance to the forum after a few days sulking, posts “I’m back!” and expresses a resolve to work diligently towards success, the kind people who offered support will feel that their advice must have done the trick. When the forum drama queen posts a further “Goodbye Forever!” message, the same kind people will empathise as the drama queen is obviously being affected by an emotional roller coaster and they will place forward further sound advice. The kind forum members will be pleased when the drama queen makes a further “I’m Back And Here To Stay!” recovery. By about the third or fourth “I Quit!” drama, even the kindest people will be wishing the drama queen had stayed quit the first time round and Internet forum credibility for the drama queen ends there.
Don’t Be An Internet Forum Puppy
A real puppy can’t help chasing after everything that moves, getting under people’s feet and being hyperactive to the point where it sometimes becomes annoying: that’s just its nature. The Internet forum member who behaves like a puppy can help it and should desist. I am talking about the person who joins an Internet forum for the sole purpose of getting the links in his signature file on the forum as evenly as possible. The annoying forum puppy will respond to every message posted whether he knows anything about the subject or not. He will post messages which are of no value to anyone, these messages will range from dull pointless observations to obscure drivel to requests to poll an unimportant question which bears no relevance to the forum. If you are desperate to plaster your signature file all over the place, join lots of Internet forums and just post a few messages on each. With any luck, you will grow out of this time-wasting pursuit previous to the other forum members form a lynching party.
Don’t Be An Internet Forum Seconder
Have you ever come across Mr Me Too? If you have, you will know who I mean. He is about as annoying as the Internet forum puppy. Mr Me Too will post a response to every thread that appears on a forum. It won’t take him long as he won’t bother to read through the thread, all he will do is add a comment saying “me too” or “I agree”. This gets his signature file posted with the link back to his website and that’s all he wants. Mr Me Too does not go to the Internet forum for entertainment or information or to contribute anything useful. If you are subscribed to a forum thread and receive notification that a name has posted a further message on the topic, it is very irritating to log in at the forum only to find that a name has posted a message saying “me too” or “I agree” just to give his signature file an airing. It is sadly right that the Internet forum puppy and Mr Me Too will get their links on the Internet alongside the forum members who post meaningful messages. When the day arrives that Search Engine Robots are able to distinguish the difference between valuable forum messages and drivel, those two offenders will find that it’s pay back time for their transgressions.
Don’t Attack The Internet Forum Moderators
If you have a message removed or edited by an Internet forum arbitrator, there will be a reason, so don’t post complaints on the forum. Even if you don’t know or don’t agree with the choice, there is no point in arguing. Attacking a arbitrator is like holding up a placard saying “I’m a pest, throw me out”. The moderators are there to ensure the Internet forum is kept to the required standard. Remember that somebody owns this forum and invests time and energy in keeping the environment — well — moderate. The Internet forum is not your confidential sand-pit, you are a guest and if your behaviour is not appropriate, your invitation to play could be withdrawn. You should also remember that anything you post on an Internet forum will be available for public analysis for years to come.
The dictionary definition of the verb to moderate is: “to keep within measure or bounds; to regulate; to reduce in intensity; to make temperate or reasonable”. If this does not sound like your kind of environment, perhaps you should stay away from Internet forums.
Avoid Looking Like a Wordpress Beginner Even if You are
Friday, November 20th, 2009Some early WordPress hints. Exchange you login name to the name you want people to identify with the site. Don’t use the default name ‘admin’ to post articles unless you really want to get into the admin niche. Seeing your name makes it more personal and qualified.
Make a Category
WordPress has the default category called uncategorized. Having any articles uncategorized is terrible SEO and similar to calling a Word document ‘Untitled’. If it is called Untitled, it really does have a title and if you place a post in the category uncategorized, well, it has been categorized. Hasn’t it?
This setting can be changed in WordPress by going to Manage and selecting Categories
Make a Blogroll
People that come to your site will leave at one point or a further. No one gets to one site and remains there for weeks on end. With a Blogroll you can at least point your visitors to places that you like, those sites may point visitors back to you.
This setting can be changed in WordPress by going to Blogroll and selecting Categories
Link to other sites
Visitors come to your site from somewhere, evenly through comments you leave on other blogs. You should not just make comments on blogs, but write articles on your blog about other blogs and people referencing people by name and by website. This post: http://compnyname.com/web-content-conference-in-french has links to 5 people and 3 other sites. This generates excellent will and encourages the people and target sites to link back to your site.
Then go to the blog you allusion and in your signature link back to your post and not you home page. A link on a blog should end with “.com/?page_id=2″ and not just a .com as most people do.
Customize Your Permalink Structure
Which of these two links tells you a touch about the topic of the post that is presented on the website?
