Wednesday, December 23rd, 2009How to start with WordPress as a beginner
Friday, December 18th, 2009When I used to start with Wordpress, I haven’t known much about HTML & CSS. luckily wordpress offers a 5-minute installation. You can read the installation guide of WordPress on their website. On my blog I also have a Step-to-Step Tutorial which helps you to search for the right domain name and hoster and a incredible theme. Also, there is a section on how to make your own profitable blog.
Most of the webhoster uses Fantastico to support their clients. Fantastico and Fantastico Deluce (they are both the same) are scripts which can install some software automaticly with one click (One-Click-Install). This is more simple as the manual installation of WordPress, so please have a look at your webhoster cPanel if you can find the Fantastico button.
Choose the domain where you want to install wordpress. You can set the admin nickname and password and then fill in the site name. It’s excellent if the site name contains at least one keyword of your site. Penetrate a brief description of your site in the “Description” field.
When you installed WordPress you should log into your new blog: www.thisisyourdomain.com/wp-admin and then penetrate the username and password you chose previous to. It’s userfriendly and self explanatory.
There are thousands of plugins available, but you’ll only need a few at the beginnig. If you use much plugins, your site could load at a snail’s pace. We’ll focus on a few plugins for now.
How to install the plugins? You can install these Plugins via FTP program or with WordPress frankly. If you are logged into your account, search for the Plugin section and search the three plugins I told you previous to. Then you can install them automaticly. Evenly this feature doesn’t work with all hosting provider. If you logged into your FTP account, you should find a folder called “wp-content”. In it you can see the folder “plugins”, open it and insert the three plugins (unzipped of course).
Allright, now you need a touch that every blog should have. First, make an “About Me” or “About” page. Then of course the “Contact” Page with the Plugin Contact Form 7. To be fully legal, insert a Privacy Policy into your blog.
Now you should install Google Analytics to footstep your visitors. The installation of Google Analytics is described by google and shouldn’t be a huge problem.
Now a touch really vital: Exchange the structure of the permalinks in the admin panel of WordPress to “Custom Structure” and then “/%postname%/”.
Now you’re read to start blogging your articles. Concentrate and focus on your subject and you’ll see results rolling in within a few weeks or months.
The Top 5 Hints For The Beginner Blogger
Saturday, November 21st, 2009I have been blogging for years now. It started as a leisure activity and has grown from there. I teach blogging classes now for Mastermind Pros. Blogging is a fantastic leisure activity and it can also be used as a way to start your identity on the World Wide Web. Blogging is much simpler to start than a web page, and it is a lot simpler to maintain then a web site. There are feature Free Blog Hosts available, so there is really no reason not to get started today. Here are my top 5 hints if you are just beginning as a blogger.
Permanently Start With a Free Blog
I recommend Word Press or Blogger for the best places to get started in blogging. They both are simple to set up and use. Blogger might have better and simpler to get help. But Word Press keeps count more advanced features and does have a pay feature for more upgrades. With each Word Press account you can have more than one blog, and Blogger does place forward the same feature, too. For this article I am just going to focus on Word Press. The reason for this is because most of the blogging information I have found out there for free chooses to focus on Word Press, and as you grow in your blogging experience you will most likely end up with a Word Press blog.
Reckon of a GREAT Name for Your Blog
If you are early with Word Press, you will want to register an account, but for each blog you want to have a creative name that you choose for you blog. For example if you were writing a blog about being a teacher you might want to see if you can get a name for your blog that has teacher “style” keywords for the title. A further example might be My Life In Room 5 for your main title. You can exchange the title of your blog at any time that you want so if next year you were went to room 22, you can just edit your title, but to choose your URL it would be different.
Picking the URL
The URL is simply certain as the Universal Resource Locator. An Internet World Wide Web Address. When you choose a URL for your free Word Press Blog it is shown as: name.wordpress.com. You would substitute your name for your blog where “name” is. Your “name” can be one word or a combination of words with no spaces between them. Several of the excellent names are by now taken but with thoughts and patience you can find a suitable name. Maybe choose your own name, for example. mastermindpros.wordpress.com I was able to get this blog just now. Remember that the URL title you pick is stable unless you choose to delete it. You can delete free blogs at any time.
Make a Stanchness to Post Evenly
Most people start blogging because they have a touch to say! Some people start them for other reasons but having been a Blogger for several years now and a visitor to several blogs, I still feel the majority of blogs out there are started by people who delight in writing and have a touch to say, even if it is just commenting on news articles or sharing their poetry. Some people delight in ranting. Have you visited other people’s blogs previous to? Go to any search engine and type in the name of a touch you are interested in like: Johnny Depp Blogs and see what shows up. I got over 276,000 results for that search on Google. So you can find people with the same wellbeing as yours. You can read what they have to say then go comment on their blog and write about it on your blog. You can question people with similar wellbeing to share on your blog, too.
Do Not Delete Your Blog
Maybe you have started your blog and you despise it. Well reckon once, twice, three times and more about whether or not you want to keep or delete your blog. Why do I suggest keeping your blog? The main reason I suggest this is because you are early your presence on the internet. That might not mean much to you if you are new, but it might mean more in months or years to come. Your blog is real estate in the World Wide Web Land. Real Estate here can become valuable, too. You can become valuable as you grow your property (your blog). Blogging is a fun leisure activity, but you never know what the future is going to hold for you or where you leisure activity might lead you. Especially if you are building your blog over time, and you are following some of the steps I mentioned in #4 above. People on the internet and bloggers are usually a friendly group. We like to have comments on our blogs. We usually respond to them. It is a special present to us when a name takes the time to make a comment. We like suggestions and people sharing what they are doing, too. The only thing that most bloggers despise is SPAM! That is where people post only to sell a touch or lead people to websites that they might not want to go to. Don’t dread that though since Word Press has powerful filters now and you get to approve what people can say on their comments.
You will find that Blogging is a lot of fun! If you can send emails you can blog. It is very simple to start up a blog using Word Press or Blogger. If you have been thinking about early a blog and have not done so yet, my advice is to get started. It is a fantastic free leisure activity and you never know where it might lead you. Share your wellbeing with the world. There are thousands of readers out there searching for information. Perhaps they will find you. I hope you will delight in your blogging experience as much as I delight in blogging and reading blogs, too.
Avoid Looking Like a Wordpress Beginner Even if You are
Friday, November 20th, 2009Some early WordPress hints. Exchange you login name to the name you want people to identify with the site. Don’t use the default name ‘admin’ to post articles unless you really want to get into the admin niche. Seeing your name makes it more personal and qualified.
Make a Category
WordPress has the default category called uncategorized. Having any articles uncategorized is terrible SEO and similar to calling a Word document ‘Untitled’. If it is called Untitled, it really does have a title and if you place a post in the category uncategorized, well, it has been categorized. Hasn’t it?
This setting can be changed in WordPress by going to Manage and selecting Categories
Make a Blogroll
People that come to your site will leave at one point or a further. No one gets to one site and remains there for weeks on end. With a Blogroll you can at least point your visitors to places that you like, those sites may point visitors back to you.
This setting can be changed in WordPress by going to Blogroll and selecting Categories
Link to other sites
Visitors come to your site from somewhere, evenly through comments you leave on other blogs. You should not just make comments on blogs, but write articles on your blog about other blogs and people referencing people by name and by website. This post: http://compnyname.com/web-content-conference-in-french has links to 5 people and 3 other sites. This generates excellent will and encourages the people and target sites to link back to your site.
Then go to the blog you allusion and in your signature link back to your post and not you home page. A link on a blog should end with “.com/?page_id=2″ and not just a .com as most people do.
Customize Your Permalink Structure
Which of these two links tells you a touch about the topic of the post that is presented on the website?
http://compnyname.com/?page_id=2
http://compnyname.com/web-lingo-getting-on-foreign-search-engines/submitting-your-website-to-a-chinese-search-engine
Both may get you to your destination, but the top option – the default – does nothing to help a reader get an thought of your post. This setting can be changed in WordPress by going to Options and selecting Permalinks
Write all your own articles
Or at least you should write most of your own articles. This is not a plot to pull sales from any other site, just stating that readers can tell when the article is not original. If really necessary, when you have a real writes block and can’t write one post you can use other articles for the base on an article that you build on. Don’t copy them for your core.
Writers Block
When blogging a post you learn that you don’t have a topic in mind – right writers block. Go to a blog related to your topic and give pointers that makes a 6 point how-to article.
