More Best of From Marketers on RSS

Sunday, February 21st, 2010

What is the top advice savvy marketers can give you on RSS? We continue with “the best of” on RSS marketing from US marketing leaders.

1. WHY SHOULD MARKETERS AND PUBLISHERS START CONSIDERING USING RSS ANYWAY? Answered by Bill Flitter, Pheedo

I’ll give you 7 reasons:

1. Sender ID 2. CAN SPAM ACT 3. Blacklists 4. Known Sender 5. Email Filters 6. Bonded Sender Program 7. Cost of Sending Email

These seven items are a result of SPAM. The items represent an effort being place forth to stop SPAM but it is still a huge problem. I do believe RSS will be around no matter if SPAM was eradicated. RSS has some distinct advantages over email marketing, which include:

1. 100% opt-in – no worries of legal threats by consumers.

2. One-click unsubscribe – RSS raises the bar. Marketers will need to reckon about what their sending before they hit the enter button. I reckon this is a excellent thing. There is no free ride with RSS. Consumers are demanding control (do-not-call list, CAN SPAM Act, Privacy Bills etc.) and RSS delivers that control.

3. 100% deliver rate – If I publish a feed or advertise in a feed, it reaches the intended recipient. This is minus any technological hiccups. Point being I don’t have to worry about SPAM filters, Blacklists, Sender ID, etc. My largest worry now is whether or not I am publishing relevant content when my customers want it.

2. WHAT DO YOU BELIEVE ARE THE BEST WAYS COMPANIES CAN USE RSS TODAY? Answered by Bill Flitter, Pheedo

1. External Communication: Make an RSS feed on your site. If you publish a newsletter already, making a feed from that information is simple. It takes small effort. I strongly encourage this practice if you are in the tech sector.

2. Internal Communication: Using RSS (with a blog) to collaborate on a project within the enterprise is more efficient then email. The blog archives the project while RSS keeps everyone informed.

3. Advertising: If the problem of SPAM doesn’t get solved soon, marketers will turn to RSS as a means to reach new customers. RSS has two distinct absolutes over email – one-click unsubscribe and 100% opt-in. Email cannot emphatically say that. RSS puts the control in the hands of the publisher and consumer. It will become a more effective marketing channel because the market will demand that publishers be more conscience of the amount and relevance of the ads in feeds. Consumers will act as the filter. If the noise-to-value ration is out of whack, the consumer will simply vote with their mice.

3. HOW CAN RSS BE USED BY MARKETERS PROVIDING AFFILIATE PROGRAMS? Answered by Shawn Collins, Shawn Collins Consulting

My vision for the usefulness of RSS is to be a one-way form of communication – sharing updates, news, and tools with affiliates in an uncensored environment, since email has become too hard with all of the Spam and other assorted hassles.

4. ONE OF THE QUESTIONS WE SHOULD START ASKING OURSELVES IS HOW TO FULLY INTEGRATE RSS IN TO OUR MARKETING AND COMMUNICATIONAL MIX. HOW DO YOU SEE RSS IN RELATION TO OTHER COMMUNICATIONAL TOOLS AND APPROACHES? Answered by Jim Gray, Quikonnex

You’ve hit the nail on the head with this question. It is ALL about integrating new technologies into the marketing mix.

RSS/Blogs/Email/Instant Messaging are all just tools to those businesses can use to communicate with their customer base. People on the Internet jump on new technologies abandoning older system … this is incorrect.

If you’ve noticed, you may have recently receive postcards and information packages from some well know online marketers such as Armand Morin and Corey Rudl. They look at traditional ’snail mail’ as a part of their marketing mix. RSS should be viewed the same.

Right now, blogs and RSS feeds are hot with the search engines, so a website owner should have one… period. But, to use it exclusively would be a mistake. The perfect mix is to use an RSS feed for the one to many communications and to use email for one on one customer correspondence.

Best Online Forums For Generating Free Leads For Your Network Marketing Company

Wednesday, January 20th, 2010

Posting in network marketing discussion forums is a really free way to generate leads from an extremely targeted audience. But you MUST go about it with professionalism and integrity. If you have never set up a forum profile before, now is the time to do so. This costs you no money – just your time.
I have been generating leads from forums for about 3 years. At first, I did it absolutely the INCORRECT way. I went into any forum I could find, and I SPAMMED them! I took my well plotted advertisement, started a new thread, and stuck it out there. I was even rude enough to go back a day later to respond to my own thread in order to bump it up! As you can imagine, I received a lot of terrible responses from the active participants of the board – and NO leads. Let that be a lesson to you. You never, ever want to go into a discussion board and open a thread with the express purpose of advertising your business. Each and every forum that is business oriented will usually have an advertising section – that is the ONLY place that it is appropriate to post your ad. If you post your ad elsewhere, or hijack a thread about a competitors program, that is considered SPAM. If you include your link in the body of your message, that is also against forum rules and etiquette.
There is only ONE place for your link, and that is in your signature file. Most forums will have a “profile” section that you can access to upload a thumbnail picture (highly recommended), and to add your signature file. Most, but not all, forums use USB codes so that you can link your text. That is, you can make a one line ad and hyperlink it so that it goes directly to your lead capture page. The code will look like this:
Your One Line Ad
Once your profile is set up correctly, and your signature file is a clickable text link, you are ready to “go.” Look for threads that have been viewed many times and/or have many answers. These are the threads to spend your time in. Once you have found a decent thread that is on a topic that you feel you can speak on – then add your 2¢ to the discussion. Again, you are joining the discussion in progress, and your comment should be relevant to the topic. Just typing in “me too” or “I agree” is NOT the way to go. You want to be respectful and respectable, and watch your grammar and spelling. I know your mother told you that if you don’t have anything nice to say, then don’t say anything at all. Well, this is particularly right on a message board. You NEVER want to get into an argument on a forum. You want to spread excellent will, helpful advice, and to instill confidence in YOU as a leader. That last part may take a small time, but it’s incredibly vital to your success. If you are going to spend ANY time attempting to generate leads this way, then you must be effective at this. If you become a “regular” on the boards and have a presence that people respect, then you can and will generate endless leads. That’s attraction marketing in action!
What kind of boards should you post on? Forums that relate to your business, or relate to a subject you are either very knowledgeable about, or have a fantastic interest in. The first seems obvious – to find targeted, opportunity buyers, post where they are reading. The second is under utilized, and therefore even more powerful! If, for example, you are a gourmet cake maker, find a board where other cake makers worldwide go to discuss the craft. I can virtually guarantee that most of the people on that board will NOT have a business link in their signature file – therefore YOUR link will stand out and will get a lot of clicks, because people are innately curious. They HAVE to click on your signature to find out how you are making money online!
Use Google to search for relevant forums. Once you have found a few active boards, save those links in your favorites, and try to post at least five different answers on five different threads at least two times per week. By keeping your signature file at the top of those boards, you cannot help but generate leads!
What are the best online forums to generate leads for your network marketing, mlm or direct sales business? After years of working to generate leads online, there are a few forums that stand out as the best for generating leads. There I have made specific tracking links for each forum to determine which sites get the most action. You should do the same.
Don’t take my word for it – do your own research here by making a tracking link to your capture page and tracking the hits and conversions. After a few posts over a couple of days, you should be able to determine if the board is active or not. If you are using aweber, this is a simple thing to do. Simply replicate your capture page for each board and insert a new webform into the new page. That way you will know exactly how many hits and conversions you are getting from each site.
BetterNetworker.com – clearly one of the best! This Network Marketer’s dream social network where you can learn from the best! Fantastic conversion on personalized capture pages here.
WAHM.com Work at home mom’s forum has a section just for networkers! One of the most ‘trolled’ sites online, you will generate fantastic leads from members of the forum, and those who are just reading threads. This site is a Mom’s board- but has many Dads on it too… but I reckon I speak for a lot of Moms on the board when I say there are plenty of other sites for Dad’s to hang out on. Leave WAHM.com to the Moms!
MLM.com has been in place forever! This board doesn’t allow a signature file, but does enable you to add your link to your profile. If you contribute high quality info to discussions here, you will make a very targeted lead. The individual had to go to extra distress to connect with you!
HomeBasedBusinessForums.com- certainly geared to online networkers with extensive content on online marketing techniques.
Remember, Time is Money, and a self-generated lead is the BEST lead. Spend an hour or so a week posting in forums after you are done with your prospecting and follow up calls for the day. You WILL generate leads from forums and bring more income into your life as a result if you follow the instructions I have outlined!

Best Practices for Twitter

Saturday, January 16th, 2010

Writing about the top best practices for Twitter is fraught with danger because everyone has his/her own list. Thus with trepidation I will attempt to provide you with what I believe are the most vital best practices:

#1 Best Practice:

Share valuable information of yours and others with links to this information. This can be blog posts, news articles, website pages, news photos, whatever is appropriate.

#2 Best Practice:

Retweet worthwhile information tweeted by others and include links to this information. This is a fantastic best practice as long as this is not the only thing you do on Twitter. (Some people do only retweet other people’s information without ever engaging in conversations.)

#3 Best Practice:

Engage in conversations – use tweetbeep.com or other applications to know when people are tweeting about topics of interest to you and then participate in the conversation. This includes answering questions when you can do so. (For example, where’s a excellent fish restaurant in West Los Angeles? Or where can I find odd-size men’s shoes online?)

#4 Best Practice:

Do NOT make your tweets all about you. If you are sharing valuable free information, that’s one thing. But if you are promoting your own products and services all the time you will get a reputation that you do not want. (You will also get an undesirable reputation if you constantly tweet trivial information such as when you are going to sleep.)

Excellent sense is the motto for Twitter best practices:

The vital element in any best practices list is using excellent sense. Place yourself in the other person’s shoes and consider what you like to see in tweets and what you don’t like to see.

Here’s a slightly edited email I received:

“I quit Twitter. To be frank, I despised it. Too many strangers wanting to be my friend. Much too much small talk. I just don’t have that kind of time … I simply can’t muster up the interest required in knowing that Bob just returned from his kitchen with a bologna sandwich.”

See what I mean? Judge your tweets by what you’d like to receive.

Just make sure you are one of those people sharing valuable information!

FYI – One additional point to consider: Who you retweet can also be vital. Even if you reckon a particular tweet is valuable, consider who it is from who will then be mentioned by username in your retweet.

If that person’s tweets are usually not valuable and therefore that person’s overall Twitter reputation is probably not that excellent, perhaps you shouldn’t retweet that person. You want to retweet from effective Twitter participants the valuable information they share.

Exploring Domain Expired Name Register to Find Best Domain Names

Saturday, January 9th, 2010

Before dealing with expired domains, you will need to learn and know how you can use a domain expired name register to find the best and profitable domain names. A domain expired name register is a powerful tool that helps you in searching for the most meaningful expired domain names. It will also make the process of finding such names simpler and flexible.

The domain expired name register shows thousands of expired domain names belonging to .COM, .NET, .ORG, .BIZ, and .INFO domain names categories. This register will also show those domains that are pending renewal or deletion. Domains that are listed in a domain expired name register keep changing nearly daily, as they are facing constant renewal, deletion or back-ordering. The expired domain register is well organized, simple to scan and search and it comes with a user friendly interface. Its advanced search and sort ability will help you easily find the expired domain name of your choice.

A domain expired name register is a truly dynamic tool that never remains idle, even for a second; its database keeps changing and adjusting itself to accommodate new expired domain names. A typical register usually contains over 100,000 expired domain names at any given point of time. The register will monitor every available expired domain possible, and it will also sort them into a well organized category depending on its status, whether it is pending expiry or deletion.

In life, finding a excellent expired name is very hard, and it is nearly like seeking out a small needle in a bag of haystacks. But, a domain expired name register will enable you to search efficiently through the entire list of expired names directory without wasting much time.

Here is how a typical domain expired name register works and operates in the real sense:

a) You will need to enter the search keyword based on your preference.

b) Search keywords could be anything in nature. It could the name of a flower or a dictionary word.

c) You can also search through a readymade expired domain names list to find the desired name.

d) When you enter a keyword and hit enter, the domain expired name register will soon return with a number of names. Then, you can pick up a name and register it in your name.

e) A typical expired name register will also allow you to place a backorder without paying an upfront fee.

Apart from the above, a domain expired name register will also help you in knowing the “whois” database of the domain, about the domain registrar who registered the domain and a brief history of past registration data. There are a number of domain expired name registers that operate online to help people find their expired domains. Some of them offer bare minimum services, by allowing to simply searching expired domain names, while many others operate on a small subscription fee basis. Before you use a domain expired name register, ensure that you choose the best of the lot that offers a host of services related to expired domain names and their registration.
