Social Bookmarking Networks: How Do You Create the Popular Stories?

Saturday, February 6th, 2010

It’s probably the dream of every social bookmarking network’s user to have their submitted tales and articles make it to the front page of the site. Why? Because making it to the front page (and not just in the “just submitted” category) means that a lot of people voted positive on this article. It only follows that they like the article because they voted positive for it. By liking it, it means they have read it. By reading the article, it means they have visited your site. This is very rewarding in terms of traffic and, more importantly, in potential income.

If you have a site and/or a blog, you should know how the basics of making cash off them goes. It’s either one or all of these cash-making strategies:

* People buy your service or product

* People click on your affiliate links and other advertisements and buy from them

* The page views and page loads that you get is converted into cash by some ad servers

This is, of course, impossible without traffic and attention from potential visitors which is why social bookmarking can help especially if you’re just early out with your business or site. In order to achieve excellent traffic from these bookmarking sites, you must first learn how to attract people into voting for your articles and making them standard for more people to see.

Listed here are a few tips and tricks (depending on how you call them) on how to make that standard article to promote your site:

1. Place forward a touch unique

I know, I know. Being unique these days is either overrated or too hard to do. My vote is on the latter. With so many “unique” tales popping out everywhere on the internet, people’s attention are divided into the many different unique articles being submitted into social bookmarking sites. Try to scour the web for a touch that you reckon would make it huge; if it’s not there, you can bet that it’s your time to shine, and if it is, reckon of some ways on how to beat that existing article that you found….

Wordpress Plugins and the Power of Social Bookmarking Sites

Saturday, October 24th, 2009

Blogger used to be a excellent blogging platform, especially for beginners. It was simple to use and setup, and not much technical know-how was required. There’s one major setback to using Blogger, though. You can’t take advantage of social bookmarking sites, at least not as effectively as you can with using Wordpress. There are numerous Wordpress Plugins, and some take advantage these sites.

These social sites act as a “vote” for your website. When people bookmark your blog posts or articles, they are sharing them with others. Other people pick up on your content, and they might bookmark them as well. The more votes the better. Google likes content, that’s no mystery. Google will reward your site for that content and the fact that high authority social bookmarking sites are between to it. This means more traffic! A lot more in fact.

So how do we take advantage of these social sites when blogging? The answer is Wordpress Plugins. Blogger doesn’t give us any way to involuntarily bookmark every post we make. It has to be done manually. That’s very time consuming! Air force like OnlyWire or SocialMarker can make this a lot simpler, but you still have to take the time to use those air force.

There is a much simpler way to drive this traffic to your blog. You have to be using Wordpress to take advantage of this. Wordpress is probably the most standard blogging platform, and it’s no wonder why that is. It requires a small more technical knowledge, but don’t be frightened away. The benefits are far greater!

Wordpress makes use of Plugins. Wordpress Plugins are in the end small applications that perform a function or process. There are numerous Plugins that were made for Wordpress, and there will be many more no doubt. They all serve a different purpose.

Here are some Wordpress Plugins that you DON’T want to be without so that you can utilize the power of social bookmarking sites:

ShareThis – Allows users to share and bookmark your posts.

AddThis Social Bookmarking Widget – This allows your readers to bookmark your posts.

ShareThis and AddThis are pretty much the same thing. It doesn’t hurt to have both. You want to make it as simple as possible for your visitors to bookmark your posts.

OnlyWire Autosubmitter – This will involuntarily submit your posts to your OnlyWire account.

Sociable – Involuntarily adds links on your posts to standard social bookmarking sites.

Peep My Blog – This will involuntarily post a peep to your Twitter account when you make a new post, bringing more traffic to your blog. You can sign up for Peep My Blog at my blog; there is a link in the resource box. You’re also going to need a Twitter account. So grab that and start getting followers, the more the better.

This is just a small example of the Wordpress Plugins that are available. You want to make sure you have these Plugins installed so you get traffic from the social bookmarking sites. The potential here is huge, and you don’t want to miss out. If you’re not yet using Wordpress to blog, I suggest you get on board.
