Record high prices at American gas pumps and continued trouble-brewing in the Middle East, Nigeria, and other areas of importance to the oil-driven economy have made it clear to Americans that we are in need of developing many new avenues of energy supply and production. In short, we need to reduce our dependency on oil, for it is ultimately finite and, frankly, the cheap sources of oil (not all oil-just the stuff that is cheap to remove from the earth) are running out. Energy consultants and analysts are insistent that cheap oil has “peaked” or is very soon going to peak. What this means for us is an expensive future-unless we can find new sources of powering our mechanized and electronic civilization, new sources which are alternatives to oil. We must also switch to alternative forms of energy because our present forms are too damaging to the atmosphere. While this write does not believe that the global warming trend is much, if at all, sustained by the activities of mankind (in short, it’s a natural cycle and there’s nothing we can do about it except prepare for the effects of it), we certainly do contribute at present to the destruction of the environment and to things like air pollution with our energy sources as they are. Coal is another source of energy that we need to wean ourselves off of-again, it is finite, and it is filthy, and the mining of it is dangerous and environmentally disruptive. We can also explore new, streamlined methods for producing electricity that we presently generate so much of via hydro-power so that we are less disruptive of the environment when we have need of constructing things such as large dams. Developing nations which have turned industrialized in recent decades especially will need the benefits of alternative energy research and development, for they are presently doing much more environmental damage than the United States. The United States, Japan, and some European nations have been implementing studies into and programs for the development of alternative energy sources, and are therefore already leading the way in doing less environmental damage. The developing nations such as China and India need to look to Japan and the West as examples of what research and development to give government backing and private investment currency to. We could also add great robustness to our own economy by being at the forefront of such alternative energy sources development and then marketing the technologies and services to nations like India, China, Brazil, and so on and so forth. Biofuels from things like “supertrees” and soybeans, refined hydroelectric technology, natural gas, hydrogen fuel cells, the further building of atomic energy plants, the continued development of solar energy photovoltaic cells, more research into wind-harnessed power-all of these are viable energy sources that can act as alternatives to the mammoth amounts of oil and coal that we presently are so dependent on for our very lifestyles. The energy of the future is green.

Auctions are those events where properties or goods are sold to the highest bidder. Auctions are mostly public events, where bidders make a series of bids and purchase a particular item for a high price for the help www.auction-entrepreneur-kit.com. During auctions, bidders decide the price of an item rather than the seller. It depends on bidders to decide the amount they would want to pay for a specific item. During an auction, a bid is a proof of a legal binding. Bidders agree to pay the amount that they have bid. In a high profile auction, bidders may have to pay a deposit in escrow accounts or give a proof that they can pay for those items.Types of Auctions:Different types of auctions take place around the world. Below mentioned are some types of auctions:1. English auction:This is a basic type of auction. In this type, people can see the item and then start bidding. Bidders slowly raise the value of their bid until everyone gives up. The highest bidder is the winner. An auctioneer manages an auction, keeps records of the on going bid and decides the winner. Sometimes, the seller will quote a minimum amount for an item to the auctioneer, below which the auctioneer cannot sell that item.2. Dutch auction:In this type, the auctioneer sets a particular price and then gradually lowers the price. People in public will start bidding and later decide which prices are suitable for the item. A seller may use this type of auction to sell large quantities of same products to the public. For instance, a seller may want to sell a large amount of hay and will thus, decide to sell this hay to people for the same amount, once a reasonable price is decided.3. Silent auction:In this type, the bidders in public will present their bids in a sealed format. These sealed bids open at the same time and bidder with the highest bid wins. There could be a modification in this type of auction for the help www.mining-auction-gold.com. The bidders are allotted a specific period to bid. They can roam in a room displaying the items, and write their bids on an associated sheet of paper. The bidders are allowed to see bids of other bidders and can choose a higher price for an item. At the end of the allotted time, bidder with the highest bid is the winner.Examples of Auctions:Auctions can be of two types either public or private. Sellers may trade any kind of items in both types of auctions. Some areas where auctions take place are:1. Antique auction: An antique auction consists of a trade opportunity as well as provides entertainment.2. Collectable auction: In a collectable auction, the seller may put up collectables like coins, vintage cars, luxury, stamps, real estate, and luxury for sale.3. Wine auction: In wine auction, bidders can bid for rare wine, which may not be available in retail wine shops.4. Horse auction: Bidders can bid for young horses of the best breed.5. Livestock auction: In livestock auction, bidders can buy pigs, sheep, cattle, and other livestock. The other examples of auctions may not be public. These auctions are for bidders from corporate levels. Some examples of private auctions are:1. Timber auction2. Spectrum auction3. Electricity auction4. Debit auction5. Environmental auction6. Auto auction7. Electronic market auction8. Sales of business auctionBidders in an auction need to examine the items displayed and decide an appropriate price for an item. Thus, auctions help buyers in getting the best deals and in gaining better profits for sellers.

URL redirection can be used for many purposes. Maybe you have just moved the content of a webpage to another webpage or domain and you want to redirect the frequent visitors of your website to the new webpage automatically. The knowledge of technique of redirecting URL is also useful if you want to shorten a long affiliate URL.
Below are several ways you can use to redirect visitors to any URL you want:
- Using Meta Tag
The tag for doing it is:
META http-equiv = “refresh” content = “0; URL = anydomain.com/destination.html”
Just put the tag above between the HEAD and /HEAD tags in a webpage. That way, when someone visits the webpage that contains the tag, he will be redirected to destination.html automatically. Don’t forget to include the “http” protocol which has been omitted.
In order to find out how many visitors have been redirected you may try to replace the destination URL with a tracking URL.
- Using PHP code
In PHP, “Header” is a built-in function that is often used to accomplish this task. This function can be used to redirect visitors depending on a specific condition. For instance, you can use this function to redirect someone to a webpage after submitting his correct username and password.
Here is the code:
header(”Location: anydomain.com/destination.php”);
where destination.php is the destination URL.
Keep in mind that you have to save the file with .php extension in order to make it works.
- Using the redirect URL facility from your hosting service
Many web hosting services provide a facility that you can use to redirect pages of your site to any url you want. This way, you only have to fill the source and the destination URL in a blank form and hit the submit button.
- .htaccess
You can also use your .htaccess file for this purpose as long as the hosting company you are using allows you to access this file. The code below will redirect visitors from oldpage.html to newpage.html.
Redirect /directory/oldpage.html anydomain.com/directory/newpage.html
Just put the code in your .htaccess file.
Now, how if you want to display a URL without using .html or .php extension? First, put the Meta Tag or the PHP code above in a file and name it as index.html or index.php. Then create a subdomain and upload the file into it. When someone visits the subdomain, he will be redirected to the destination URL.
There are actually other techniques of redirecting URL with different advantages and disadvantages. For instance, with Domain Forwarding you can forward your domain name to a URL. Domain Masking that looks similar with Domain Forwarding can hide a URL with your own domain name so the real URL will not be displayed in the address bar of your visitor’s browser.
Whatever technique of url redirect you intend to use, always choose the one that would best fit your needs.

Recently I needed to create a page in Wordpress that didn’t have the sidebar on it. I still wanted the sidebar on all the other pages, just not that one (i.e. for an option or sales page).

It took me a while to find the solution, but the one I found works like a charm. Takes a bit of programming knowledge, but not too bad.

Here is a quick video on how to go about doing it and a custom.php to get you started. Credit goes to Moses at wpthemesplugins.com for the solution. My video just walks you through each step to make it a bit easier.

Click Here to watch the video tutorial at Evil Genius TV.

Sorry, I would embed the video tutorial here, but it is not allowed

In a nutshell, here are the steps:

1. Create a custom.php file in your favorite text editor. I use Notepad ++

2. Add this code to the beginning of your custom.php file

<?php

/*Template Name: custom*/?>

3. Copy the contents of your page.php file from your current theme.

4. Paste the code below what you just added to the custom.php

5. Find the code that says < ? php get_sidebar(); ? > and delete it.

6. save custom.php

7. FTP custom.php to your current theme folder under wp-content>themes>(whatever theme you are using)

8. Create a new page. Under Advanced options, choose Page Template > custom.

9. Thats it!

If it sounds complicated, it really isn’t. In the video, I will walk you through it in about 5 minutes.

Choosing how to monetize your blog is a huge decision! There are many different options and it can be difficult to judge which type your readers will respond to most. Take a look at these different options, and make your choice with your readers and the market overall in mind.

Option 1: Adsense

Adsense is probably the easiest way to monetize — and the most difficult! It’s easy because it’s just a simple code that Google gives you (they even automatically match up the ads for you!). You make money as soon as someone clicks on your ads, whether they actually go on to make a purchase or not. Adsense can also be incredibly difficult. You usually get paid a few cents per click and it can take a lot of traffic for it to add up to something that is even remotely worth your while.

Adsense might be a good thing to test, especially as you’re getting your feet wet with blogging. If you’re in the right market and find the right ad positions and colors, it can certainly turn into a nice hands-off income for you.

Option 2: Affiliate Products

Selling products as an affiliate is a great way to make money. For one thing, you get to earn money from the products without having to fulfill them yourself or deal with customer service issues. Nothing is better than that! The returns are usually higher than with Adsense, provided you’re able to find an offer that converts well with the people who visit your website.

You will have to decide if you want to promote digital or physical products. This decision will likely come down to what kind of niche you’re in and how your site visitors will respond.

Option 3: Creating Your Own Products

After you get a loyal following of readers it’s easier than ever to create and sell your own information product! You’ll have to fulfill the orders and deal with customer service issues, but the tradeoff is that you get to keep all the money! You are also the one who knows your readers best, so you’re likely to come up with an offer that converts extremely well since it’s exactly what they want.

You can write an ebook, create a membership site, deliver a paid e-course, create a video series, or record audio. If you want to make the package even better you can combine a few different approaches to add massive value. The options are endless when it comes to monetizing with your own products. Some of your blog readers might eventually want to become an affiliate of yours as well!

As you look at these different options you might start to feel overwhelmed. That’s perfectly normal! It’s hard to know what the best path is when you’re just starting out with a new niche. A good way to get a feel for the best way to do things is to see what other blogs and sites in your niche are doing. You’re not trying to copy them, you’re simply taking note of what works and using it yourself.

The purpose of this article is to outline three different ways of getting a WordPress blog up and running. WordPress is a free blogging software, has many benefits and is supported by a large community of users and developers.
A “blog” is abbreviated from the term, “web log” which is a form of online diary or journal.
Since its advent a few short years ago, blogs have found numerous uses. Just to name a few, these include:
- teenagers putting their thoughts and ramblings online
- hobbyists giving updates about their interests and passion
- people staying updated with friends overseas
- professional bloggers updating specific niche products
- multinational corporations (MNC’s) such as Microsoft & General Motors using blogs as marketing tool
Like a web site, a blog has global reach. However, it’s far cheaper, quicker and definitely easier to maintain a blog than a traditional web site. A blog’s contents can be easily updated by submitting short or long articles (commonly known as blog posts) through an easy-to-use graphical interface. As a blog’s content is updated regularly, they naturally attract both human readers as well as search engines hungry for fresh content.
To set up a blog, we need some form of blogging software or platform. There are free software like Blogger and WordPress and there are paid platforms like Moveable Type and Typepad.
Blogger is owned by Google. It’s free and perhaps the easiest way to create a blog and your first post, literally within minutes! Howeer, its features are somewhat limited.
Thus, WordPress is a good alternative if you are looking for free blogging software. As it is an open source software, it is literally supported by a huge community of users and developers that assists both new and experienced bloggers. Not only feature rich – it supports categories, pages and trackbacks, just to name a few – it is constantly being updated through its core software as well as through software plugin’s which are bonus software components that extend the basic functionality of WordPress. For more information, visit WordPress.org
Here are 3 different ways to get a WordPress blog up and running:
1) Via WordPress.com
2) Via WordPress.org
3) Via CPANEL’s Fantastico
VIA WORDPRESS.COM
Like Blogger, you can get your WordPress blog and first post up and running within several minutes through WordPress.com! This site is meant for people to get a taste of WordPress without having to go through the somewhat involved procedure via WordPress.org (see the section below). If this is the first time you are getting your WordPress blog up and running, you should definitely give this a shot.
It’s as easy as going to WordPress.com, clicking the button that says “Get a WordPress Blog Now>>” or something like that and following the directions there. And then, you start posting!
In this case, your WordPress blog will be hosted on WordPress.com totally free. Therefore, you do not need your own web host. The only drawback is that there are limitations such as you can’t install your own themes or plugin’s.
VIA WORDPRESS.ORG
Instead of having your blog hosted on WordPress.com, you can install WordPress on your own web host. (Of course, in this case, you need to have your own web hosting account which preferably comes with a version of “CPANEL” – a an easy-to-use graphical control panel to manage your web host.)
Setting up of the WordPress blog comprises the 3 main steps below.
Step 1: Visit WordPress.org and download the WordPress installation files which are free (since it is open source software as mentioned before). As the files are in a compressed format, run your compression utility (such as Winzip) to expand the files to your hard disk..
Step 2: Run your File Transfer Protocol (FTP) program and connect to your web hosting account. Then upload the installation files to the domain (if you have multiple domains hosted) and folder that you want your WordPress blog installed.
Step 3: This step is going to be challenging for the non-techie type if they managed to survive Step 2! You log into the CPANEL of your web host and create and configure your MYSQL database. After this is done, you need to configure some files to complete your installation.
Next, launch your browser to access your blog and start making your 1st post by running the “wp-admin.php” script that has been installed.
As you can see, this is the “normal” but very tedious way of setting up of your WordPress blog.
However, the effort you expend is worthwhile as you can configure all aspects of WordPress like installing the theme you like and adding HTML codes to include Google AdSense on your blog to earn some profit, etc.
VIA FANTASTICO
Again, you install WordPress on your own web host but this time through FANTASTICO. In this case, not only would you need to have your own web hosting account, it MUST come with a version of “CPANEL” that includes “FANTASTICO” – an advanced script installer that automates a 1-click WordPress installation! (Actually a few clicks are needed.)
With FANTASTICO, all the 3 steps above are automated for you. All you need to do is to log into the CPANEL of your web host and then click the FANTASTICO icon, which is a smiley face.
In the next screen, click on “WordPress” and then click on “New Installation”. FANTASTICO will open a form and you fill in a few things like which domain (if you have multiple domains hosted) and which folder to install to. Once you have typed in the information and pushed a button, FANTASTICO will install WordPress in a few seconds!
How is that possible? That’s because the installation files are already at your web host. This saves you time as you don’t have to download them from WordPress.org, expand them and upload to your web host. Likewise, the databas is also automatically created and configured for you.
Next, launch your browser to access your blog and start making your 1st post by running the “wp-admin.php” script that has been installed.
As you can see, this is the “preferred” method of getting a WordPress blog up and running, also within minutes.and yet you can have all the benefits of configuring all aspects of WordPress, such as adding Affiliate Programs easily (including Amazon.com) and Google AdSense to make a handsome profit month after month!
