How to Register and Set up Twitter The Fastest Growing Social Sites

Thursday, January 14th, 2010

What is Twitter?Twitter has to be the fastest growing Social Media sites online today.  It is taking the internet by storm and there are around 10,000 new users per day signing up to participate in this new online revolution.Twitter is best described as a micro blogging network.  Users are limited to 140 characters of text each time you do an update, which initially, may seem a small amount.  But, as you play around more, it’s just incredible what you can fit into 140 characters. But, Twitter is much, much more than that.  It is like one huge global forum, but then again, it doesn’t have to be.  It all depends on how many people you follow on Twitter.  If it’s in the thousands, then your “Tweetstream” will be running quick and furious with everything that’s coming in.  If you are only following a few hundred, or even less, then things are much simpler to keep up with.Twitter is also a fantastic way to meet new people online, particularly those with similar wellbeing to you.How To Set Up Twitter AccountSetting up Twitter Account tand o have your own account is simple, but there are a few things that you should be aware of when organizing your account.  This can apply even if you by now have an existing twitter account too, so consider these tips and it can improve your entire Twitter experience. The first thing to do if you don’t have a twitter account is go to twitter.com which is the main page of Twitter.  You will be questioned to either login or register. If you don’t have an account, then of course you will need to register for onw.  So let’s go through the registration process and clarify it all here. How to Register Twitter AccountThe Twitter screen will question you for your first name and last name and will then check this is entered correctly.  A green tick will appear next to the box.The next screen questions you for a user name and this is where you need to consider how you are going to present yourself on Twitter. You should remember that you can set up more than one account on Twitter, but you will need a different email address for each one.Now this is where the thinking bit comes in.  The first account you register should permanently be in your own name if you can get it.  Genuinely, common names like JackSmith (there are no spaces in usernames) will by now be taken.  But it is possible to get variations on your own name such as Jack_Smith, or Jack_Smith23 or some variation like that.  You can only use an underscore in a username. Hyphens are not permitted in the field. It isn’t unquestionably critical that you register your own name, but I would advise you do if you can, particularly if your name is a special one.  I’m sure the last thing you want is a name else impersonating you on Twitter, or somewhere else for that topic. If you wish to register a business name, then you can do that of course, but make sure you use your own name in the sign up process so you are exclusive and connected with the company name you register.  The concepts and reasons for operating under each type of registration will be discussed later. You are now questioned for your email address. Email addresses are linked to financial statement and you will only be able to use your email address once. For every account you register, you will need a different email address. The last thing to do is to fill in the Captcha letters and then click on Make My Account. The next screen will question if you want to add any of your acquaintances from the standard web based email programs.  You can do this later if you wish. The next screen presents a fleeting list of people who Twitter questions if you want to follow. Choose some if you like, but I wouldn’t bother. I prefer to find my own acquaintances on Twitter. When you click Close, you will then be taken to your very own Twitter account.  You are logged in and ready to go!To learn more about How to use Twitter to market your business and drive traffic and sales to your business, take a look at these Video Tutorials on Twitter

Don’t get me incorrect, I like automation software and even write it myself, but there’s a very simple way to submit your ads quickly to forums WITHOUT buying software and WITHOUT missing other advertising opportunities in the forums. Here’s how you do it and I’ll provide a fantastic resource as well…!What is a Forum?I hope you’re not that new, but even if you are forums are a fantastic place to both learn and make known your harvest and air force. A forum is a special type of website which allows users to post questions, answers and advertisements. Can I Make Cash Advertising in Forums?Yes you can! Both fleeting term, by other posters seeing your advertisements and long term by making backlinks to your website in both your significant file and your actual announcementsDoes That Mean I Need a Website to Post to Forums? No, you don’t need a website to post to forums, but, if you’re serious about being in business you should have an office where people can walk in and see your harvest and air force. On the internet your office is your website. If you’re plotting on making long term cash on the internet, you should get an office, I mean website. What Is A Signature File?A signature file is text or graphics that appears at the bottom of all your posts. It’s produced in your profile (don’t worry you’ll find it) and should contain a fleeting soft sales pitch and link to your site. Don’t get them to buy in the sig file just get the other users and guests to click your link. All forums have different rules about sig files. Since I’m both a peddler and a family man I tend to be pretty lenient with my forums and do my best to help my members feed their families. They, general return the favor if I recommend a product or service.Okay, I Know, But It Sounds Time Consuming. What is This Quick Method You Have to Post to Forums? There are five steps toward preparing to post quickly to forums1. Prepare your ad copy or announcement2. Join Forums and set some bits and pieces up3. Know how to copy and paste (don’t worry I’ll clarify it)4. Learn the keyboard shortcut for posting5. List your forums a particular way1. Prepare Your Ad Copy or AnnouncementI won’t go into what advertisements require to be successful That’s for a further article or book, but I will discuss the formatting.Make the subject of your post the first line in your text file. Not more than that place your sales pitch designed to get your prospect to click on your hyperlink. Place any subscription information you have in there as well. Place your hyperlink at the bottom of your text. Remember to use http:// To make your link committed.2. Join Forums And Set Some Bits and pieces UpAfter you join you’ll usually get an email to activate your membership. When you click the link to do this log yourself in “Forever”. If you have a choice of internet browsers use Firefox. It’s free and gives you the option to remember your username and password. When you log in, set the forum up to log in “forever”. This will save you a lot of time later.3. Know How to Copy and Paste (Don’t Worry I’ll Clarify It)Make an email or if you know how an html document with hyperlinks. Now here’s your time saving shortcut:Find the board in the forum that allows you to place an advertisement.Left mouse click on New Topic within that board. Sometimes it says New Post.Click in the address bar on top of your browserRight mouse clickLeft mouse click on CopyOpen your email or web page editorLeft mouse click in the body of your email or html editorRight mouse click in the body of the emailDo a number of these and send the email to yourself. You now have a list of links in your email which will open a section to post your announcement immediately thus saving you approximately five clicks per post.4. Learn the Keyboard Shortcut for PostingIf you’re using Internet Explorer Alt s can be used to submit your post. I tried this with Firefox and it didn’t work. You can use your mouse to left mouse click on the Submit button not more than your advertisement.5. Thus the reason for keeping your advertisement text file open. Now open your clickable list of forumsLeft mouse click on an appropriate forum. It will open to the new post section.Left mouse click in the Subject line.On your keyboard press Ctrl v This will copy the clipboard into the subject line. If you set up your ad correctly your subject is the first line of your ad. Your entire subject may not appear to to part limitations. This makes an even better reason for repeating your subject in the body of your post.On your keyboard press the Tab key until your cursor is in the body of the New PostOn your keyboard press Ctrl v Your entire advertisement will now be in the body of the New PostIf you’re using Internet Explore on your keyboard Alt s will Submit your post. If you wish to use a shortcut key for this on your keyboard Ctrl w will close a window. You may now repeat the procedure by clicking on a further New Post forum link. Remember, you do not need to recopy your add. It’s still in your clipboard.ConclusionI started using computers previous to a mouse was standard. I do find these keyboard shortcuts to be quicker and simpler on this writer’s carpal tunneled hand. Regardless of whether you prefer mouse or keyboard shortcuts, the setup guidelines will save you a lot of time during submissions of your work.
