Monday, October 25th, 2010The FBI on one of their many websites has come out with a list of what they feel is the three most significant internet dangers for your kids to avoid. In this article I wanted to discuss these dangers and what you can do to help educate your children about them.
Since so many children are becoming victims to various dangers on the internet the FBI released some statistics in order to make parents more aware of what is going on. These statistics were very alarming to me when I viewed them.
I raised 5 children as a single parent and they are all over the age of 30 so I am not concerned with the internet statistics in regards to them. I know they will be fine.
I do have 9 grandchildren and 2 fantastic grandchildren that I am concerned about when I look at the dangers they face on the internet.
Let’s take a look at some of the statistics the FBI released that are of a major concern to parents.
Pornography and Pornographic Related Websites
There is so much porn on the web it is hard to fathom. There are over 1,800,000,000 websites classified as pornographic in nature. Even sites that are paid adult sites have free preview sections with photos and or videos to watch. You children have free access to these. Is this the type of sex education you want your children to receive?

I do not care if it is 5 in the morning or 5 in the twilight, if it is breakfast time, lunch time or time for dinner, there are 5,000,000 surfers on the internet 24/7 looking to victimize your child for their own deviant desires.
There is a 50/50 chance that if your child is talking to a weirder in a forum or internet messenger service designed for children that the person they are conversing with is not a child but an adult posing as a kid under a fake profile.
Cyber Bullying is On the Rise and is VERY Perilous
Cyber Bullying is the high tech version of our schoolyard bully made readily available to harass your child 24/7 over the internet. The harassment can become so acute that it can produce serious harm to your child causing extreme depression and lack of self esteem and has resulted in some cases suicide by the victims, also referred to as bullycide.
I have seen 2 reports, one estimating one third of our children having been victims of cyber bullying. The second estimates one half of our kids having been victims. Both studies agree that approximately half of our kids who are victims of cyber bullying will not tell their parents, acquaintances or teachers and will not seek help.

Again, most people would agree with what Google is doing, since most affiliate marketers only hype the harvest they’re selling and getting those affiliate based sites out of their search results and off the web may not be a terrible go on Google’s part and for the web as a total.
But, are consumers now getting the real information on harvest they’re buying?
