Dallas Mavericks Stomp the Washington Wizards

Wednesday, June 30th, 2010

The Mavericks are looking as dominate as ever as they closed out the Washington Wizards last night. I was at this game, which was the first game of the preseason. The first quarter was close because the Mavs were having way too much distress shooting their free throws. I reckon they were 1-20 in the first quarter, (just guessing). Even Dirk Nowitzki was missing from the charity stripe. The Mavs shot 53 percent as a team vs Washington who was shooting 82 percent. They can’t keep that up if they want to be NBA champs.
Antwan Jamison went down in the first quarter with a sprained knee injury. Jamison was really a former Maverick during the 03-04 season coincidentally. Also, John Hollinger of ESPN wrote during his Player Efficiency Ratings that “His(Jamison) game has held up very well the past few years, he never gets hurt..”. If you don’t believe in jinxing people, it’s time to start. The Wizards had also just given Jamison a 50 million dollar extension on his narrow, I’m sure they’d like part of that back now. For the Wizards, having Jamison and Gilbert Arenas out for the game devastated their lineup. Even if the Mavericks were likely to win it is excellent that they didn’t play down to their opponents as they sometimes do. They pulled away in the second quarter and never looked back.
Brandon Bass was surprisingly dominate with 17 points and three rebounds which is higher than his 8.3 points per game average of last year. DeSagana Diop is back in Dallas and contributed 7 rebounds and three blocks. His defense is much valued in Huge D. Dirk had 17 points as well as 7 boards. Jason Kidd played well with 7 assists and 6 points. Caron Butler of the Wizards had 11 points. A lesser known player Andray Blatche had 18 points and 5 rebounds.
Some of the Mavs younger players are stepping it up to get playing time. Antoine Wright played greatly well racking up 9 points, 3 steals, 4 assists and 2 rebounds. He should see more playing time as well as J.J. Barea who played brilliant at guard and did not turn the ball over.
I don’t get why we are paying 10.5 million to Eric Dampier. Is there no one else we can find at the post spot? He plays soft defense 9/10 games he plays. He looks like a motivating force but plays like the Easter Bunny. I would trade him in a heartbeat.
In the fourth quarter the Mavs were up by as much as 36! The Mavs were very quick and all the gears were moving well. Washington might have to start nerve-racking with their two largest stars out. They may need to trade some recruit picks for some decent players.

Nba – Dallas Mavericks Ended Its Losing Streak by Beating the Knicks

Monday, June 28th, 2010

The Western Conference team Dallas Mavericks, beat the New York Knicks in an incredible way, after been down during the majority of the game. But, the Knicks didnâ??t exchange a field goal in the last 2:28 minutes of the fourth quarter and they didnâ??t score in the overtime either.

With only 2:28 minutes left to close the game, the score was in favor of the Knicks 112-105; but the terrible shooting of the Knicks against the excellent execution and the seven points added by the Mavericks place the things equally for both teams and leaded to the overtime.

At the beginning of the game, the Knicks were dominating taking a lead of 15 points. The Mavs trailed in the score during the total game but an aggressive comeback at the end of the fourth quarter gave the Mavs a light to end their losing streak. In the overtime, the Knicks attempted 0-9 shootings as the Mavericks were doing fantastic defense.  The Mavs star Dirk Nowitzki scored 7 points and Josh Howard scored a further two baskets in the overtime to end the game 124-114.

With those seven points, Nowitzki finished the game with a high-score of 39 points and 15 rebounds. His teammate Josh Howard added 31 points and 14 rebounds followed by Terry with 20 points. For the Knicks Zach Randolph was its best scorer with 27 points and 18 rebounds, followed by Richardson with 17 points and 8 rebounds.

This game finished the losing streak that the Mavs had during the start of this season. The Mavs lost five of its first seven games and they had troubles finding his magic to win, but we have to say that this win against the Knicks certainly is a relief for all the players, coaches and the Mavericks franchise. Dallas didnâ??t have a 5-game losing streak since 2000, nearly a decade ago. But like coach Rick Carlisle expressed, they have never stopped believing in each other, and they have a spirit of fight on them even when things get tough. Now he and his players need to believe that the tough stretch is over and they have to take up again with the same determination, specially winning close games like this one consistently.

For his part, Nowitzki was pleased with the result and very pleased to end the terrible stretch his team was living. “We had to stop the raining at some point. We’re pleased to get this win and hopefully turn this thing around a small,â? alleged the German and star player of the Mavs.

With this win the Mavs are ready to keep going with a further victory; their next contender will be the Charlotte Bobcats on Tuesday November 18th at Time Warner Cable Arena.  We hope the best for this team, which has fantastic expectations this season especially with the acquisition of the experienced point guard Jason Kidd, who can make a difference for the Mavs and can have a fantastic chemistry with the super star of Dallas Dirk Nowitzki, the small forward Josh Howard and the handgun Jason Terry.

Dallas Mavericks Nba

Wednesday, June 16th, 2010

The Dallas Mavericks commonly referred to as the Mavs is a qualified basketball team of the Inhabitant Basketball Association that is located in Dallas, Texas. The owner of the team is Mark Cuban whereas the duties of head and CEO are fulfilled by Terdema Ussery. The Mavericks is amongst the seven teams that are located in the Midwest Division of the West Conference of NBA. They play in Dallas wearing blue, white and green colored uniforms. Forbes Magazine has titled it as the third most costly basketball team in the US. It is estimated to be dollars 463 million. Since its establishment in 1980 it has bagged two division titles and a conference championship. Its establishment took place after NBA’s grant of an expansion team to a real estate developer. During their initial seven years they made intelligent recruit picks and bought several talented players. And it was not long previous to they dominated the Western Conference and proved tough opponents for the Los Angeles Lakers in the Conference Finals. Though they provided a excellent match but ultimately lost to the Lakers who became the champions second time in a row. In the nineties several changes were made to the team that proved to be beneficial for them in the later years. Don Nelson and Michael Finley were hired as the general manager and the coach respectively. Talented players like Dirk Nowitzki and Steve Nash were also added to the team in the late 80’s. They made a playoff appearance in 2001 which was their first in nearly eleven years. They got the eighth pick in the NBA Recruit that took place in 1985 owing to a trade with the Cavaliers. They utilized this recruit pick to buy the German player Detlef Schrempf who played exceptionally well all through his stay with the team which amounted to a small more than three seasons. He performed even better when he was traded to the Indiana Pacers.Kurt Nimphius was traded for James Donaldson who played for the Mavericks till the 1991-92 seasons. This helped build a strong centre which was absent since the past five years. In 1988 the first ever All-Star center featured Donaldson. Pre 2004-05 season, the team was again subjected to several changes some of which included the acquisition of Jerry Stackhouse who was the overall number 5 recruit pick. Their coach since 2005, Avery Johnson concentrated on the defense of the team instead of the offense. New talented players namely Josh Howard and Devin Harris were added in the team. The team marked its 25th season with successes. It posted a finishing record of 58-24 which is the second best record in the history of the franchise. Further they made Playoff appearance which was their fifth consecutive appearance and 11th ever. They tied the record for the longest streak of straight playoff appearances in the franchise history. They have the best record overall in the Western Conference and trailed behind only the Detroit Pistons for the best record in the NBA as of 2006. For more information you can stay: Dallas Mavericks Tickets

Dallas Mavericks Tickets – Is This

Monday, June 14th, 2010

The Dallas Mavericks have been building a team for years that’s been as exciting and appealing as any team in the NBA, as measured by demand for Dallas Mavericks tickets. But, in recent years, the Mavs have been stuck with a reputation for being a high-scoring, talented team that couldn’t play defense, couldn’t play a half-court game and were in the end soft. In essence, they were seen as a team with a lot of flash and no substance.
That all changed last season, but, when a tough, battle-tested and physical Dallas team ran through the Western Conference playoffs and into the NBA Finals previous to irrevocably bowing out to the Miami Heat. The Mavericks seemed to mature previous to our very eyes with the guiding hand of Coach Avery Johnson, who instilled the defense and toughness the team needed. Will that newfound attitude allow the team to take the next step this season?
Additions
The Mavericks were long known to be a team that was constantly tinkering with their roster, and it seemed that every season brought huge changes to their personnel. Previous to last season, that approach seemed to exchange, as management wanted to instill some continuity, and that turned out to be a very excellent thought given the Mavs’ progress last season.
This year was more of the same, as the team really didn’t add any significant free agents or make any huge trades. The players that were added are all known for their toughness and defense, including Anthony Johnson and Devean George. Other than that, the team locked up core players Jason Terry and Josh Howard. The Mavs are largely the same team they were last year, aside from the addition of a few role players.
Strong Suit
Dallas Mavericks tickets are required-after because the team permanently provides an offensive show. That hasn’t changed, as players such as Dirk Nowitzki, Terry and Jerry Stackhouse can permanently fill it up from just about somewhere on the floor. It’s a nice option to have when you can in the end outscore any team on any given night to steal a win.
But, the Mavericks’ strong suit has been diversified a bit. The Mavs were one of the best defensive teams in the NBA during the playoffs last year, and that was a feat that many thought was impossible. Johnson constantly harps on that end of the floor, and the team responded. In the end, the Mavs are becoming a complete team, and anyone who can advance to the NBA Finals through the brutal Western Conference has to be able to do a lot of things.
Outlook
Once again, the Mavericks are loaded with talent and expectations, and owner Mark Cuban is just itching for a chance to hoist a championship trophy. It all comes down to the same things as last year – if the Mavericks can take up again to play a complete game with a high degree of toughness on both ends of the floor, they’ll be right in the thick of things for the NBA title once again. If not, they’ll be run out of the playoffs early by San Antonio, Phoenix or one of many other talented teams in the stacked Western Conference.
Regardless of how the season plays out, Dallas Mavericks tickets are sure to provide fans with an exciting experience, as the team is permanently appealing and the environment at their games is hard to match.

Mavericks Tickets – Pure Adrenaline Rush

Tuesday, June 8th, 2010

The Beginning

After the departure of Dallas Chaparrals of the American Basketball association to San Antonio in 1973, there was no qualified Dallas team. In 1979, businessman Don Carter and Partner Norm Sonju requested the right to bring an NBA franchise to Dallas, Texas. The league owners of the NBA All-Star game voted to admit the new team in 1980. The team name was chosen after the 1957-62 TV western, â??Maverickâ??. James Gather who played the character, was one of the owners. The teams first head coach was Dick Motta, a man well known for his disciplinary sternness. Mavericks tickets for the season shows you the team in action which had a roller-coaster ride complete with thrills and spills.

The Dallas Mavericks quickly rose to become a competitive franchise, when they joined the NBA in 1980-81. The decade saw a steady improvement in the team due to its premium recruit selection. The Mavericks looked like the most promising team of the future. In the early 1990s, Mavericks experienced the steepest spiraling decline in the NBA history. The teamâ??s downward show was so terrible that it twice threatened to record the most terrible single-season ever recorded. Mavericks tickets were not looked upon as a cherished possession. But right to its worth, with a solid foundation of strong, young and talented players, The Mavericks started their ascent on the NBA ladder.

The Stars

In the 1994-95 season, the main reason for the spin was rookie point guard Jason Kidd. He led the NBA in triple-doubles with 4 and averaged 5.4 rebounds, 11.7 points and 7.7 assists for the year. Along with Detroit Pistonsâ?? Grant Hill, Kidd was awarded co-rookie of the year. He finished 7th in steals and 10th in the league in assists. On 11th April, Kid gave a triple-dual (with 38 points) and also hit a triple three pointers during the final, nail wounding 55 seconds in the first overtime. This feat took the team towards a win of 156-147 dual-overtime against Houston Rockets. There were other two talented and strong mavericks worth mentioning, Jamal Mashburn and Jim Jackson. Together they were the leagueâ??s highest scorers. Mashburn averaged 24.1 points per game and finished fifth in the NBA. Jackson averaged 25.7 points. Due to a sprained ankle in February, he could not take up again for the rest of the campaign. In the following year, forward Popeye Jones showed his prowess. He averaged 10.6 rebounds per game and registered 10th in the NBA. Jones had 329 offensive rebounds and no other NBA player has matched him yet. With such treats to be watched, Mavericks tickets sold out evenly.

The Mavericks performed very well in the 2006-07 season, winning the Southwest Division. Now the head coach Avery Johnson has set his goal on bagging the championship for 2007-08.The addition of Eddie Jones to the roster looks exciting, and the new assistant coach Paul Westphal will also provide a much needed shot in the arm to the Maverickâ??s defense. Get your seasons Mavericks tickets to watch the magic unfold. Tickets can be bought online through a broker or also over the phone. No basketball fan would want to miss this yearâ??s thrilling game.

The Dallas Mavericks are an NBA basketball team based in Dallas, Texas. The team is owned by Mark Cuban. Terdema Ussery is head and CEO.

Franchise history: Early struggles (1980-82)Dallas, Texas was found in 1979. At the 1980 NBA All-Star Game, league owners voted to admit the new team. The team’s name came from the 1957-1962 TV western Mavericks. Becoming a power early (1982-85) The Mavericks were serious competitor for the first time in 1982-83. At the All-Star break, they were 25-24 and had won 12 of their last 15 games. The Mavs’ 38-44 record signified a 10-game improvement from the previous season, and the fact that a third-year expansion team had even been in playoff contention at all was reasonably remarkable. A right contender (1985-87) Dallas had the eighth pick in the 1985 NBA Recruit and drafted German-born forward Detlef Schrempf out of Washington. He would show flashes of brilliance in his three-plus seasons with the team, but it was not until he was traded to the Indiana Pacers that he showed his full potential. The Mavericks also traded center Kurt Nimphius to the Los Angeles Clippers for center James Donaldson. Season in ruin (1988-89) Dallas started the season 9-3, but spiraled rapidly down the tubes after that. Mark Aguirre was traded to the eventual champion Detroit Pistons for Adrian Dantley. Briefly bouncing back (1989-90) The Mavericks returned to the playoffs in 1989-90 with a 47-35 record, but it was a further season of off-court chaos. Tarpley was arrested. The team started 5-6. The Mavs finished the season with four straight victories to surge into the playoffs, but went down rather mildly to the Portland Trail Blazers in three games. It would be the team’s last winning season and last playoff appearance until 2001. Three Js give Dallas hope (1994-96) In 1994-95, the addition of Jason Kidd infused the Mavericks with new life. Kidd averaged 11.7 points, 5.4 rebounds and 7.7 assists in his rookie season, and even led the league in triple-doubles. Roy Tarpley was allowed to return to the league after three years and helped with 12.6 points and 8.2 rebounds per game. On separate occasions, Mashburn and Jackson scored 50 points in a game that season. Mashburn contributed 24.1 points per game. Second-year forward Popeye Jones averaged 10.6 rebounds and led the NBA in offensive rebounds. 2001-04 The 2001-02 season was a fantastic season for the Mavericks, with a 57-25 record. This season also saw a exchange in logo and colors. A further blockbuster trade sent Juwan Howard, Tim Hardaway and Donnell Harvey to the Denver Nuggets in exchange for Raef LaFrentz, Nick Van Exel, Tariq Abdul-Wahad and Avery Johnson. The Mavericks swept the Minnesota Timberwolves in the playoffs but lost again in the second round. Roster changes lead to Finals The 2004-05 season brought in blockbuster trades which brought Erick Dampier, combo guard Jason Terry, speedy rookie point guard Devin Harris, scoring apparatus Jerry Stackhouse, and defensive stalwart Alan Henderson. At the All-Star break, the Mavericks bought Keith Van Horn for Calvin Booth and Henderson, the latter resigning only days later. 2006 NBA Finals The Mavericks defeated the Phoenix Suns in game 6 of the Western Conference Finals on June 3, 2006. They faced the Miami Heat in the finals scored two influential wins. After game 2 Dallas city officials had by now plotted the victory parade. But, in Game 3, the Mavs blew a late dual-digit lead. He carried the Heat to the win. After getting blown out in Game 4, the Mavericks suffered a further loss in Game 5 when Wade scored the game-tying basket in the last possession of fixed time, putting the Heat ahead with last-second free throws in overtime. The tragic figure was Josh Howard, who missed a pair of clutch free throws in overtime and mistakenly called an early timeout.

Dynamite Basketball Action With Dallas Mavericks Tickets

Saturday, May 29th, 2010

Dallas Mavericks tickets are sure to be welcomed by any basketball fan. The Mavericks have permanently kept fans and the competition on their toes. They are also a team that permanently seems to have a surprise up their sleeve. Just when they seem to be doing a nosedive, they will pull themselves up for a successful victory.

The Dallas Mavericks are currently based in Dallas, Texas, and are part of the Inhabitant Basketball Association’s western conference and southwest division. They play their home games at the American Airlines Center and so far, have 2 division wins and one conference title to their name.

Stunning Team, Struggling Team

The Mavericks were born in 1980 and were named after the box show of the same name- this was because the star of that show, James Gather, was part of the ownership team. After making a number of excellent picks, both in terms of players and personnel, the Mavericks went on to beat the Spurs in their introduction game, 103-92. Interest started to pick up for Dallas Mavericks tickets since the team looked like they were going to make a huge impression on the NBA.

But the Mavericks started to struggle soon after their first win. They started the season with a weak record of 6-40 and by the end of the season, they were 15-67. But, some key players were added to the roster and they proved to be strong assets for the team. By 1982, the Mavericks were emerging as strong forces on the court. From 1985 to 1987, sales of Dallas Mavericks tickets rose greatly, as it looked like the team was strong contenders for the championships.

Down and Nearly Out

Much to the frustration of the team and its fans, the Mavericks found themselves on the slide, just a year later, as the team became bombarded with injuries and player suspensions. By 1990, things had gone from terrible to worse, when one of the team’s best players was banned for life for substance abuse. The remaining excellent players all seemed to be distress from injuries of some sort. Sales of Dallas Mavericks tickets took a chose dip, as the team started to place up weaker performances on the court. Things hit absolute rock-bottom from 1992 to 1994. Even though efforts were made to rebuild the team and bring in new players, the Mavericks rounded off the 1992-1993 season, with the second most terrible record in the NBA. This was a long fall, considering that just ten years ago, they had been one of the NBA’s elite.

The new millennium saw a new day dawn on the Mavericks team. In 2001, the team really bounced back and was able to sell out Dallas Mavericks tickets on their home turf. In 2006 and 2007, the Mavericks were able to bring in some conference and division titles, further establishing the fact that the team was certainly on the rise. Today, the Mavericks are strong contenders for a championship win, a touch they have been very close to a number of times. Don’t miss your chance to watch it live- you can even beat the crowds and line-ups by contacting an online authorized voucher vendor for your Dallas Mavericks tickets.

Dallas Mavericks Tickets – it Will Take a Lot More Than Injuries to Stop This Team

Thursday, May 27th, 2010

An injury to a leading player in the team could certainly derail the thought process of a team’s management. Surely, the Dallas Mavericks faced a similar problem when they had to place up with Josh Howard’s injury. For the Mavericks, the problem has been ongoing for some time now, with him being absent from the early line up for a lot of games. The game against the Spurs was a classic example of how the Mavericks believe in fighting it out.

Without their most potent force at both side of the court, the Mavericks certainly struggled to get some flair going in their game. It happens to the best of teams when their best players get knocked over in the previous games or are distress from injuries. With the Mavericks, the absence of Howard from the line-up meant their defense and their attack were unquestionably toothless. To their credit, the Mavericks did place up a fight.

Spurs were expected to roll through a Howard-less Maverick. Maverick’s strategy of playing a tight game coupled with their hard-working defense really ran the Spurs shabby. They managed to take the game into dual-overtime, where tired legs and a slight blip in concentration allowed the Spurs to place it over them. But really, the experts felt that the fact Mavericks could stretch a full-strength Spurs without Howard thus far was shrine to their spirit and attitude with which they approached this game.

Josh Howard could see all of this only from the sidelines. After the game, the head coach of the Mavericks felt the need of Howard to be there in the midpoint. He has never been known to mince words and here he made it amply clear that he needed Howard out there in the midpoint, if the Mavericks were to win games. This comment is not to say that the Mavericks were helpless ducks without Howard. But this comment is primarily to stretch home the fact that with Howard in the team, the Mavericks seem like hungry vultures!

As the curtains draw on this game, clearly there is no room for introspection for the Mavericks. For them, the choice is simple – Get Howard back to avoid such thorough games in future! It symbolizes the spirit of the Mavericks, but it does small to get them moving on the scorecard. And to win championships, you ought to get your scores up on the card as soon as possible.

Josh, to his credit, desperately desires to be back in the squad. He has seen enough of the beatings the Mavericks have taken in his absence. And though his spirited team mates place on one stellar performance after the other, Josh and other Mavericks would certainly want their team to win. And for that, Josh must return!
