Renewable Energy Like Solar Energy Can Prevent the World From Devastation????

Saturday, September 4th, 2010

Our body needs energy to work and in the same way, a apparatus needs electricity or energy of any substance to run. For different machines and automobiles we use different means of energy such as; Coal, petroleum and natural gas. But these days the use of renewable energy is in vogue which is the energy produced out of the natural sources like sunlight, wind, tide and rain. The major types of renewable energy are: Solar energy, Wind energy, Bio mass energy.

The renewable energy is preferred more by the total today because of its extra-ordinary advantages. We have been using the energy of the fossil fuels, produced by burning it which has kept the total world on the edge of the devastation. Today, the world is towards the way of harnessing the natural sources for the energy to save the world from further global warming. The renewable energy does not emit any kind of toxic gases which can be fatal for the earth and a further merit is it is the replenished energy. Among all the natural sources, the sun is the incessant mean, giving incredible output. The sun throws the heat and light frankly on the earth nearly daily (apart from few places) and the solar collectors collect the rays and transfer them into the form of electricity or heat which can be very helpful. Solar energy provides electricity to heat water and to heat or cool homes, businesses or industry. It is being preferable because it is a clean and renewable source of energy. The sunlight when converted into electricity is also called the solar power. If the use of renewable energy will be increased then the next generation will be able to live in the realm of pure environment.

How to prevent duplicate content with effective use of the robots.txt and robots tag.

Saturday, December 26th, 2009

Duplicate content is one of the problems that we evenly come
across as part of the search engine optimization air force we
place forward. If the search engines determine your site contains
similar content, this may result in penalties and even exclusion
from the search engines. Fortunately it’s a problem that is
easily rectified.

Your primary weapon of choice against duplicate content can be
found within “The Robot Exclusion Protocol” which has now been
adopted by all the major search engines.

There are two ways to control how the search engine spiders
index your site. 1. The Robot Exclusion File or “robots.txt” and
2. The Robots Tag

The Robots Exclusion File (Robots.txt)

This is a simple text file that can be produced in Notepad. Once
produced you must upload the file into the root directory of your
website e.g. www.yourwebsite.com/robots.txt. Previous to a search
engine spider indexes your website they look for this file which
tells them exactly how to index your site’s content.

The use of the robots.txt file is most suited to static html
sites or for excluding certain files in dynamic sites. If the
majority of your site is dynamically produced then consider using
the Robots Tag.

Making your robots.txt file

Example 1 Scenario

If you wanted to make the .txt file applicable to all search
engine spiders and make the entire site available for indexing.
The robots.txt file would look like this:

User-agent: * Disallow:

Explanation The use of the asterisk with the “User-agent” means
this robots.txt file applies to all search engine spiders. By
leaving the “Disallow” blank all parts of the site are suitable
for indexing.

Example 2 Scenario

If you wanted to make the .txt file applicable to all search
engine spiders and to stop the spiders from indexing the faq,
cgi-bin the images directories and a specific page called
faqs.html contained within the root directory, the robots.txt
file would look like this:

User-agent: * Disallow: /faq/ Disallow: /cgi-bin/ Disallow:
/images/ Disallow: /faqs.html

Explanation The use of the asterisk with the “User-agent” means
this robots.txt file applies to all search engine spiders.
Preventing access to the directories is achieved by naming them,
and the specific page is referenced frankly. The named files &
directories will now not be indexed by any search engine
spiders.

Example 3 Scenario

If you wanted to make the .txt file applicable to the Google
spider, googlebot and stop it from indexing the faq, cgi-bin,
images directories and a specific html page called faqs.html
contained within the root directory, the robots.txt file would
look like this:

User-agent: googlebot Disallow: /faq/ Disallow: /cgi-bin/
Disallow: /images/ Disallow: /faqs.html

Explanation By naming the particular search spider in the
“User-agent” you prevent it from indexing the content you
specify. Preventing access to the directories is achieved by
simply naming them, and the specific page is referenced
frankly. The named files & directories will not be indexed by
Google.

That’s all there is to it!

As mentioned earlier the robots.txt file can be hard to
implement in the case of dynamic sites and in this case it’s
probably necessary to use a combination of the robots.txt and
the robots tag.

The Robots Tag

This alternative way of telling the search engines what to do
with site content appears in the

In this example we are telling all search engines not to index
the page or to follow any of the links contained within the
page.

In this second example I don’t want Google to cache the page,
because the site contains time sensitive information. This can
be achieved simply by count the “noarchive” directive.

What could be simpler!

Even if there are other ways of preventing duplicate content
from appearing in the Search Engines this is the simplest to
implement and all websites should operate either a robots.txt
file and or a Robot tag combination.

How to Detect and Prevent a WordPress Spam Injection Attack

Wednesday, December 2nd, 2009

Last month my WordPress blog was the victim of a spam injection attack. I am the art boss for a highly rated graphic design and website design company. I have years of experience in website design, WordPress Blog Design and I am security minded in my approach to web development — I was still a victim of clever hacking. It can happen to anyone and it is happening at an increasingly alarming rate. The most terrible part about this experience was that not only my WordPress blog was attacked – my entire corporate website was removed from Google SERPS. We were ranked in the Google Top 10 for several coveted a skin condition such as; graphic design company, packaging design companies, brand identity company, and many more. Our site was completely out of Google search results for two weeks in which time we lost countless leads. This experience unquestionably sickened me! It also produced way too many hours of work dedicated to repairing the hackers hurt and improving our website’s Google Rankings. During my research into fixing the spam injection hackers hurt I exposed that this is a widespread problem with WordPress blogs. It’s happening to thousands of people and it is not limited to people using older versions of WordPress. Improving from a WordPress Spam Injection attack is not fun, but you can regain your Google Search Results after being hacked by a spam injection attack. If you’ve been compromised, hopefully you have your website and WordPress blog backed up. It can be a pretty deadly process to go through every file and folder on your server locating and deleting spam files. I recommend backing up your WordPress posts and completely removing all files and databases from your server. Then do a complete fresh upload of your website and a complete reinstall of WordPress.  If you have by now been removed from Google Search Results then you will want to say Google immediately of what has happened. The best policy with Google is to be specific in your explanations. You will need to make sure that you have removed all terrible files from your server and then contact Google again explaining what events you have taken to resolve the situation and submit your “question for for re-examination”. In most cases where a valid site has been hacked Google will restore their sites rankings within two weeks. But, don’t expect any notifications from Google on their progress of reevaluating your website or WordPress blog. I am writing this article in hopes that it will help anyone from having to go through that processs. What should you look for if you suspect a WordPress Spam Injection Attack? The first thing you should look for is a list of spammy keywords showing up in your list of keywords located in your Google Webmasters Tools. If you aren’t using Google Webmaster Tools then you should certainly look into this. When your site starts showing up in weird looking search results, which can also be seen in Google Webmaster Tools under search results for your site, you need to act quick because at this point Google will act quick to remove your site from SERPS in order to protect others who may be at risk from visiting your website. The key to detection is awareness. Be vigilant in monitoring your website and your website’s stats. Spam injections are a clever, effectual form of hacking and show no external signs of infection. But, If you do a Google Site Search for spammy key words like; {site:yoursite.com spamword} you will be able to see if your site is referencing spam keywords. You will not be able to see spam showing up on your site. In order to physically see spam tags in your site you must go to the “cached” version of your web pages and view them in “text mode”. If you’ve been infected you will now be able to see spam keywords, usually appearing as a footer. What does a Spam Injection Do?Spam Injection software hides spam keyword links in code that is usually encoded with a PHP function that effectively scrambles html to be decoded once safely embedded on your server, database, etc. You won’t see these files decoded, but the Google Bot and other bots will when crawling your site! Once the Bots access the code the spam injection software has done it’s work, effectively stealing your search index to improve their own pagerank. These spam injection hacks are very hard to notice software injections inserted into your site, usually on a database amount, via templates or plugins. This is part of the reason WordPress is such a target for these attacks. Plugins are what make WordPress so dynamic and cool, but they are an open doorway for spam injection software. For obvious reasons we should all focus our attention on prevention so that you don’t have to deal with detection. What can I do to prevent a WordPress Spam Injection Attack?I’ll start with the simplest things you can do to protect your WordPress blog or site from spam attacks first. . .First:  Update WordPressUpdating WordPress is the simplest thing to do, so why not do it? I usually wait a fleeting period of time after a new release to make sure the bug fixes have been worked out. Please be aware that simply updating WordPress is NOT enough!Second: Pick a excellent passwordPick a excellent password. Don’t use the same password on every site. If you’re really diligent  you can also exchange your password evenly.Third: Exchange the admin user nameThe default WordPress user name is “admin”. This is just a guess, but I suspect that the majority of people never exchange this. Don’t give any information away. Hackers are clever, but like burglars they would rather go on to the simple score. You can exchange your admin by making a new user and then deleting the admin user. You’ll be given the option to migrate posts to a further user.Fourth: Hide your WordPress Version NumberDavid Kierznowski of blogsecurity.net lately released a simple plugin to hide your wordpress installation version number. The no version plugin is a simple plugin that will replace the version number with blanks, so anyone doing a view “page source” from the browser on your site will not be able to see your wordpress version.Fifth: Protect your pluginsPlugins are the simple gateway way for hackers to access your blog. All WordPress files start with (wp-) by default so, hackers can quickly learn which plugins you’re using by going to /wp-content/plugins/, if you haven’t renamed your database files. A quick remedy to block  a blank index.html file in the wp-content/plugins/ folder.More Complex Procedures:First: Protecting your WP-Config file. This file contains your database name, database username and database password. Obviously, you don’t want anyone to have access to a touch this valuable. If you don’t feel comfortable making changes to your config you may want to contact your hosting company for help otherwise you can add the following code to your .htaccess file:PHP: 1. # protect wpconfig.php 2. 3. order allow, deny 4. deny from all 5. Second: Exchange your database namesNote: do not attempt this unless you are comfortable with PHPMyAdmin and making changes to MySQL. If you are not comfortable with this you should hire a qualified to help you.Start by backing up your database! Many people have problems with the database table name prefix varying functionality of WP Security Scan. You can manually exchange your database names following the instructions not more than.1. BACKUP your WordPress database to a sql file – you can do this in “phpmyadmin”.2. You should Deactivate your plugins as a precaution previous to proceeding. You can reactivate them after you have finished.3. Make a copy of the .sql file you produced, then you can open the .sql file and use a text editor to find and replace all “wp_” prefix to “rename_”.4. Now, drop all tables of your WordPress databases, but DO NOT drop the database.5. import the (.sql) file that you have just edited into your wordpress databases.6. Close by editing your wp-config.php file and exchange the $table_prefix = ‘wp_’; to $table_prefix = ’something_’;I hope that this article will help a name avoid the fallout associated with a spam injection hack. I like the functionality of WordPress, but unfortunately, this experience has left me so alert that my company no longer uses a WordPress Blog along with our corporate website. Maybe soon.
