Tuesday, October 19th, 2010

Article from: My Family UK.

The school years can be challenging. If your child is struggling, it may be hard to know how to help. But you’re not alone.

Working problems out with the school

Whatever the problem, engage the school’s help in solving it. Start by talking to the class teacher informally. You may want to flag up the issue in advance so the teacher can find out what is going on.

.

If your child is being bullied

Bullying is one of the largest problems that makes children loathe school. Act swiftly if you find your child is being bullied, and encourage the school to be firm.

Of course, addressing problems at an early stage is not permanently possible. Children evenly hide bullying through dread of reprisal. When you learn your child is being bullied, you can try the following things:

.

If your child is struggling due to family trauma

The illness or death of a relative can leave a child distressed. They may worry about what will happen at home when they are at school, or feel that school is now unimportant. DEATH to Old School Home Based Business Practices – Avoiding The Bully (Shark) Marketer

Monday, September 13th, 2010

It is exciting to make huge cash working from home. Very few really do though for numerous reasons, and this article series is devoted to revealing why few succeed, how those that do succeed accomplish their success, and what you can expect if you really want to find success working from home.
Back to the sharks. When you get your returned phone call(s), you have no thought is calling you. But be sure of one thing, they are doing it in the hope of getting paid. Nothing incorrect with getting paid, but not everyone conducts business with the same ethical standards. In fact there are way too many individuals in the industry that will tell you whatever they reckon you want to hear to get you to go forward with their business.
The process is simple – they call you – tell you how busy they are – then give you some websites to go see and a conference call to attend. Simple enough, anyone can learn to do that right? Then they insist that they are professionals, insist that you be the same and be at either of a couple of choices of “appointments” with them to get your questions answered. You agree on a time and then you are off to do your research.
So you go to that call, check out the website – everything looks so excellent, but as a habitual person you have some questions; and you should. You are about to make a choice that is vital, and your time and energy is the #1 resource you are risking, not the cash. Cash is replaceable. Your time and your emotional state and shape is not.
You are really interested so you keep your follow up appointment with what seems like your undisruptive tour guide.. You have so many questions, and you are excited. Here’s where you can be vulnerable to the seasoned qualified you are about to meet. You are about to be 3-wayed to a name that has more experience at “closing”. They intend to “close” you, which means, have you pull out your credit card or you get sent to the bank to get certified funds.
Meanwhile you are thinking you are just trying to get questions answered so you can consider your options.
The call comes as scheduled, the person that you first spar with then tells you they are new to the business (in most cases) or says that they want to show you what kind of up line support you are going to get when you join, “so if you don’t mind, I’d like to bring in John Hammerhead into the conversation. He’s a fantastic guy, a lot of fun to work with, and very successful. He’s teaching me the ins and outs of this business, and will be teaching you”.
Now in your mind a touch is a bit amiss right? The yellow caution light is flashing in your mind, and your original contact person can significance new resistance developing in you; and he/she should. You built rapport with that first person that called you. You wanted to speak with them more, and now here comes a name you don’t know. You are about to experience the home based business shark bite.
Of course John Hammerhead is very busy so as you question questions, he gives you fleeting answers, and says “don’t worry – you’ll learn all of that when you get started”. Get started you are thinking? I’m just still learning about all of this home business material, your brain shouts at you.
Then it happens, John Hammerhead goes for the “BITE” (close) – “well let’s get you started?”
If John Hammerhead has done his job, all along the way, he has painted the picture that this is simple, just follow the “SYSTEM”, and we’ll be here to help all along the way.
Meanwhile you have not had enough time to Google the company or research any other businesses. You are not ready … John Hammerhead is ready and expects you to be too because ” he’s looking for decisive people”. Who is this all about anyhow? It’s about you, your life, your goals, your dreams – not John Hammerhead.
For so many people that is the first experience, you pull out your credit card and go to the website and sign up. You just signed up for your first home based business. It will probably not be your last.
At the end of the call you are congratulated for being decisive and committed to your future, etc. Meanwhile, John Hammerhead just bit a chuck out of your checking account. And you can be guaranteed that, if you enrolled in your home business this way, then you will nearly certainly regret it at some point, and write it off as lesson 1 at some point in your not to distant future.
My first experience at learning about home business was from watching a TV commercial late at night. I went to the website, place my information in, and nearly immediately my phone rang. People from about 8 different companies called me. I connected with one particular guy that seemed trustworthy enough.
I had very specific criteria. No selling to acquaintances and family and drop ship completely from Internet ordering were the headlines. Jim the “Vitamin salesman” was not resonating with me, but I figured IF it was perfectly turnkey online, it would just be a further stream of income. After all, people buy lots of vitamins.
Jack Greatwhite just kept saying yes. I went to their call. Everyone was making all this cash, it sounded fantastic. When Jack Greatwhite called me back, he by now had Bill Thebullshark on the phone with him. I was instantly in a 2 on 1. I re-capped my criteria, and told them that if everything I heard was right I was in. They said yes again. I ordered the “IPB choice kit” for $500. They got me to go ahead and signup for the marketing system, for a year (huge mistake), but I felt these guys were being trustworthy with me.
When I got my kit, the first thing I did was read the “manual” that came with it (very scarce for me), but I wanted to see their marketing model. And there is it was, on page 3 “group of Influence”, acquaintances and family, blah, blah, blah. Right about the time I finished reading the manual, I was packing up everything to ship back, and Jack Greatwhite just happened to call. I questioned him on the “drop ship” program and then he said I needed to either sell X dollars in product first (of course by having them all shipped to my house first) for a couple of thousand dollars, or buy my way in at a higher amount.
I confronted him, and essentially politely called him a liar. He back peddled and got Bill Thebullshark back on the phone, and they settled me down a small bit. At the time I didn’t realize they were trying to get me past the 72 hour period with which I could get a refund (which they successfully did).
A week later, I called to cancel everything, question for my refund (that’s when I found out that the 10 day period started when I place my credit card in the website, not when I expected my product evaluation kit. It was now day 11. I wanted a refund on the marketing system. Of course I had clicked on an agreement that said it was non-refundable. So it was a $750 lesson and introduction into the world of the perilous shark infested waters of MLM. One year later the ancient wound was opened and salted when the company that provides that company’s marketing system started charging my credit card without my consent. After an hour or so of my time on the phone, I irrevocably got the charges reversed. Unbelievable.
Are all people in network marketing and home based business sharks and pilferers? Unquestionably not. In fact, when 4 months later I looked again after responding to what I thought was a job ad in the newspaper. I saw the sharks coming and got back in the boat quick.
This total exercise though led me to find a business that was legitimate, and I was able to do very well at. But I swore to myself on day 1 that if I ever had to resort to those tactics to make cash, I would quit the business. (which I did in February 2007).
The best advice is take your time looking, don’t let a seasoned “Networker” (shark) bully you or make you feel inadequate because you want to “reckon” about a particular business. Thinking about it is exactly what you should do along with some Serious Due Diligence (Research). How to go about this is the subject of a further article.
I was taken advantage of because at the time I was moving “away” from a situation, and everything sounded better than where I was. By the time I picked my right business, I was moving “towards” a goal, and therefore no one was able to push or bully me.
Either you or a name you know has been the victim of a GUMP (Excellent Unsuspecting Cash People) hunter in MLM or direct sales, making much of the negative view of the industry.
Some network marketing, direct sales, MLM companies or other home based business opportunities in many cases have tremendous value propositions. Most do not, and they are populated with lots of hungry sharks.

Bullying At School: Parent Action Steps You Need To Know

Thursday, August 5th, 2010

Making an effectual plot of action to find a solution to your child’s bully problem at school is nearly impossible without some amount of involvement by your child’s teacher, the principal, and other members of the school staff. Unfortunately, many parents are very reluctant to make the school aware of this type of problem until serious mental or physical hurt has been done to the victimized child. The reasons for this may include incorrect perceptions such as:

Sometimes parents would involve the school apart from they are unsure of who to talk to or what procedure to follow to get things moving.  The following action steps are intended to help clarify this situation for parents.Action Step #1: Speak To The TeacherUpon hearing that your child is being bullied at school, contact your child’s teacher(s) about this problem.  They need to know what has happened so they can take the necessary action to monitor the situation and prevent any further incidents.  Sure, we teachers are busy, but the well-being and protection of our students is at the top of our list!  It is irrelevant how the teacher feels about your child as a person, the bottom line here is that “no child deserves to be bullied”.Action Step #2: Speak To The PrincipalFind out what the school policy is on bullying and if possible, question for a copy of the document so that you have a touch in writing.  As your child’s advocate, it is vital that you know what commitments the school has to keeping your child safe. Evenly school policy is part of a School District policy towards unacceptable behavior.  Question if the district has a “zero-tolerance” towards bullying.  If not, then find out why, as most school districts do promote this now.Action Step #3: Make Action PlanNow that hopefully everyone involved is on the “same page”, it is vital that you work together with the school (your child’s teacher(s), the principal, management staff, etc.) to make an action plot to stop the bullying of your child immediately, then finding ways to prevent it from happening again. This plot of action needs to be in writing and must state the responsibilities of all parties involved, signed by all parties, along with a time line and updates.  Otherwise it is too simple for the plot to fall apart when new situations at the school arise or people get busy and forget about protecting your child.

Action Step #4: Stay The CourseIf for some reason you find that the school is not keeping up with their parts of the action plot that was agreed to in writing, feel free to remind the principal. After a reasonable time, if nothing is still being done as promised, then send a copy of the signed action plot to the School Board and School Superintendent, outlining your concerns.Action Step #5: Empower YourselfBelieve it or not, the fact that you are reading this article, means that you are on the road to empowering yourself to help solve your child’s bullying problem and taking steps to prevent such a problem in the future.  Most parents have access to a computer and the Internet at home, the library, etc., which means there is no reason today for a parent to feel confused or helpless about what to do if their child is being targeted.  The Internet is swamped with websites containing information and tips, offering both free resources and materials for sale.

Your child’s safety and well-being is threatened, so what could be more motivating for you, the parent, than to take the time necessary to find possible solutions to this problem?

School Bullying Stopped: Don’t Be Fooled by the Smoke Screen! By
Paula McCoach http://www.bullyzapper.com

School bullies are manipulators.

They are masters at confusing students as well as adults.

But with these masters of manipulation, we must permanently look at
the huge picture!

Hardcore bullies will evenly try to confuse the issue when being
confronted with their bullying behavior. They will blame their
victim for the incident that happened between them. They will
bring up small transgressions that the victim may have made and
try to make them seem huge.

For example, maybe the victim told them to “Shut Up” and the
hardcore bully will make this seem like a huge insult the him or
her when in reality the hardcore bully has threatened or cursed
at the victim, and the victim was just trying to defend himself
or herself.

This Smoke Screen practice is one of the hardcore bullies most
successful deflecting attempts because it is simple for school
staff to get caught up in the details of the incident at hand.
And, the hardcore bullies are experts at throwing up the smoke
screen.

But through much success and failure at working to resolve the
bullying situation, I force myself to look at the huge picture
with the hardcore bully and not be deflected by the smoke screen.

In other words, I look at the overall pattern and large number
incidents the hardcore bully has participated in vs. the small
number of incidents the victim has been involved in – if any. I
don’t give the bully a clean slate in every incident – I believe
the best way to stop bullying is to deal with it on a cumulative
amount – not each incident individually.

Hardcore bullies are experts at throwing up a smoke screen and
making a “mountain out of a molehill” when they have been
wronged but minimizing any incorrect that they may have done to
a further student. But, now you will be able to see through the
“haze.”

Bullying, A Real Problem For Our School Age Children

Thursday, July 15th, 2010

Bullying in our society is at epidemic proportions. So many of our youngsters are the victims of bullies at schools and on the streets. Many youth go to bed frightened at night and wake up terrified each morning if they sleep at all, as the result of bullying. Victims live in constant dread for their safety and well being.

By definition bullying is aggressive behavior that is intentional and involves an imbalance of power or strength. Evenly, it is repeated over time and can take many forms. Typically, victims are those kids that don’t seem to “fit in” or appear to be “different”. For example they may be overweight, have developmental or learning problems, or are very passive and unlikely to stand up for themselves and mount any type of self defense.

If you’ve had any experience with bullying you know that it can have tragic affects. In addition to physical abuse, victims can suffer emotional and mental problems as a result. Bullies on the other hand are prone to violence and over time the amount of violence is likely to become more and more intense.

Facts About Bullying

Nearly 6 million kids in America are involved in bullying. They are either the bully, a victim of a bully or in some cases both. Males and females report involvement, though males are much more likely to take part in physical bullying such as punching, hitting, slapping, striking, or pushing. Females are more likely to start rumors, make comments about sex, gossip or try to convince others to exclude a further female.

How Can You Help

If you are the parent of a child between the ages of 6 and 18 then it is very likely that they have experience with bullying either frankly or indirectly. With nearly 30 percent of kids reporting either being bullied or bullying a name, the likelihood is strong that your child at least knows the school bully.

There is permanently strength in numbers. Get different student organizations and clubs involved. Start a series of articles in the school newspaper about “Bully Prevention”. Invite a strong, respected community chief to come and speak on the topic and reinforce the message that it’s “not cool” to bully. Make a support or help group for victims of bullies. The group should contain a mix of student leaders, parents, teachers and administrators. This group should place forward and provide anonymous help and support if necessary.

Remember millions of kids suffer extreme anxiety, depression, loss of appetite, and sleepless nights as the direct result of a bully. Studies show that the long term things of this trauma can be very serious. So even if your child is not involved, your involvement in needed. Overtime you can truly exchange the culture and environment of the school for the better. You will be helping to ensure that every student has an copy opportunity to learn in a safe and secure educational environment without the dread and stress of a bully.

Middle School Bullying Stopped if You Just Keep Trying!

Midpoint School Bullying Stopped if You Just Keep Trying!
http://www.bullyzapper.com

By Paula McCoach

So, one of your stop bullying techniques has only made a dent in
making the hardcore bully stop.

Well, try a further.

1. Your first school bully stopping practice was to talk to the
bully, and he/she stopped briefly. Take up again this practice as
long as the victim keeps reporting the bullying.

2. But, just to be sure, add parent contact to your bag of
tricks with this school bully. Once you have enough reports,
some of which should be from teachers, contact the parent and
get them involved in putting a stop to the bullying.

3. Thirdly, with one particular bully, once we got the parent
involved, she signed him up for our in-school counseling program
run by out County Shape Department.

4. He was doing better but was still a small rough around the
edges in terms of bothering others, so we assigned him a mentor
from Bully Zapper Mentor program.

5. He was also receiving special education air force and small
group education and was closely monitored by several teachers
and educational assistants – this helped our bully victims as
well.

6. Class meeting on bullying and teasing were also presented to
this student as well as all our midpoint school students in social
studies classes once a quarter.

7. Irrevocably, several of his bully victims to the top out peer
mediation forms, so he participated in coming up with solutions
to stop bullying in these small group sessions.

By eighth grade, he had a honestly excellent year with decent grades
and minimal interventions. With most bullies one practice will
not do the trick.

School Bullies! Would You Know if Your Child is Being Bullied?

Saturday, June 12th, 2010

Is your child developing weird  behavioural problems.A few tell tale signs can suggest that your child is being bullied. Here are a few to question and deal with them previous to it becomes a very terrible situation to handle.Talking to your child evenly and building up strong family relationships can mean a child can tell you they are being bullied and you can intervene previous to its too late. Not all children tell their parents though. you can later explore further just in case a further problem is the produce of a child’s scarce behaviour.

1.If your child has a  silent and shy  personality bullying can evenly go a miss. A child who does not feel they can approach a parent  will evenly not tell you there is a problem, or if they keep coming in from playing outside telling you “mum they keep hitting me”  you can sometimes be so busy and sick of them coming in every 10 minutes or so that you “say oh go on and play”, sometimes you want them to fend for them selves and stick up for themselves but bullies evenly pray on children who don’t fight back. so when bulling has become a very serious issue your child will feel they are unable to approach you  with any serious problem at all.A child can become withdrawn and not want to play outside after school with their acquaintances.

2.Stealing a child may result in stealing/shop lifting and  hiding things from you and then giving them away to try make new acquaintances, it evenly has the bullies then stealing from their lunch boxes, sack cash etc because they are known as a soft touch, and the child who is bullied will feel they will leave me alone if i give into them. which is evenly not the case. The other children could still not want to make acquaintances with your child and may even produce  more children to bully your child.. look out for hidden toys, pens, chocolate bars, cash hidden under the pillow or bed which you know you havent given them sack cash for.

3. Loneliness and not keen to join in with other children, its a excellent thought to get your child involved with as many out of school activities as possble, it can aleviate the problem of socializing with children of the same age and is a excellent way for your child to mix with adults too. When your child attends these fixed and is pleased with lots of acquaintances and suddenly doesnt want to join in it can evenly mean bullying is taking place wether at school or even at the activity class.

4.Your child can bully a younger member of the family in revenge against the bullies. Because the younger child is smaller and younger he/she may not be able to hold your son or daughter off if fighting occurs.  Your older child will feel poweful and in control where usually the bullies strip this from him/her when bulling happens frequently to your child.

5.Bedwetting, soling of pants, a further tell tale sign that a touch is incorrect.(please note)Children can go through a bedwetting stage around 7so if it is bullying other signs have started to develop such as nightmares, dread of the bullies when you go down the street, thay may make excuses to go a further way round to avoid them.

we hope you never have to come across your child dealing with bulling the worse case was at age 11 one child out of a class of 30….26 children all against one student at school .The problems got worse until age 13 when the child got into a fight after having enough of bullying and finished up with detention plus striped of prefect duty in the last year at school.

Please note The above information is just a guide please look at all possiblities previous to rushing in at the deep end and shouting at the teachers, it could turn out that your child is the major bully after all.Take care why not stay our online store for more articles amd free advice for the under 5’s. at www.cheekychumsonline.co.uk

Send your RSS Feed Back to School

Saturday, February 27th, 2010

How are your RSS feeds’ grades? RSS has become a very standard, very useful tool to help manage the incredible amount of content available on the Internet today. RSS has been used to condense headlines and articles into brief snippets that allows the reader to quickly scan through many headlines or articles for the content that they are most interested in. The ‘pull’ of RSS versus the ‘push’ of e-mail allows the user to get just the information they want and has made RSS very successful. And in the success of RSS also lies the problem. There are so many RSS Feeds available that finding high feature RSS feeds has become hard. To help solve this issue you need to have your RSS feed graded and certified. A standardized grading system helps to recognize the best attributes across feeds and allows readers to better use and know the grading system. One such grading system is offered Free from Feedage.com. The grading system looks at many different aspects of the RSS feed and grades them against historical data that shows what attributes are critical to having readers subscribe to your RSS feed.Benefit to content providers:

By having your RSS Feeds graded and certified content providers can improve the probability that readers will subscribe to their RSS Feed. Like Search Engine Optimization (SEO), RSS grading helps you to identify what qualities readers are looking for and helps to supply RSS Feeds that meet that criteria. Readers are very finicky. Too many words and you might lose them, too few and they might not know. By having your Feeds graded and optimizing them to the highest grade you are optimizing your chances of having your RSS Feed and the content behind it read and subscribed to. By having your Feed certified you are giving the readers of your Feeds a standardized, simple-to-know system to show how your Feed is of the highest feature. Benefit to content readers:

Graded and certified Feeds are higher feature Feeds, meeting the many factors that are critical to you, the reader. Factors like how recent was the Feed in print, how many words and bits and pieces are in the Feed. Using a standardized grading system allows users to identify and subscribe to Feeds from across the Internet. Grading helps the reader to see through the mounds of RSS Feeds that either have too much content or too small. Quickly skip out-of-date and ‘junk’ RSS Feeds and find feature content! The life expectancy of a grade:

RSS Feeds are dynamic, varying frequently as the world around us changes. How can you grade a Feed that will exchange in the near future? This does make it more hard to grade, but not impossible. Given that most RSS Feeds are produced through the use of dynamic tools, the general constraints of the Feed remains the same. If a blog outputs the entire body of an article as the description, it will likely do this every time the Feed is generated. If you make your RSS Feed with a simple title like “My Blog” then very likely every time the RSS Feed is generated the title will not be very useful. On the other hand, if you generate an RSS Feed that has enough detail to catch the reader but not so much to overwhelm them, the tool that is making the RSS Feed is of high feature and will produce high feature Feeds.
